Only 2oz :(

I took DD for another weight check today and in a week she only gained 2oz (shes 8lb6oz at 3wks today) when the dr wanted her to gain 4-8. She's having me go back to pumping 3x/day and supplementing after BFing with 6oz of BM spread out over the day. The pedi was really supportive of me and wants to help me get to a place where I don't have to pump but just says it's going to take time. I'm sad that I'm not able to just BF and feed my daughter enough that way and I'm also a little annoyed that I have to start point again. Anyone else going through weight gain issues?

My little one was a slow gainer initially but is getting better. So babies just gain slowly. Have you ever had her weighed pre-post feeding. that helped me realize that my LO was indeed getting enough BM even if she wasn't gaining weight overall. We did this at our LC's office. In one feeding she ate over 3 oz's and that was with a small feeding at home just before going to the LC. My little one is a month and weighed 8#8 at her weight check Tuesday-she was 8 at birth. We have done some supplementing with both BM and formula (when needed)-initally due to jaunice/dehydration. I was told that LO should gain anywhere from .5-1. oz per day/3.5-7oz per week.

My sister had a little one recently as well and the pedi wanted her to wake my niece up to feed at night. However my sister is from the school of never wake a sleeping baby (which I agree with too). She weighed her little one pre and post feeds and she was getting plenty. She's just a little peanut and growing slowly.

How often is LO feeding. i guess I would rather increase feedings than have to supplement after every feeding.

Me.. My DS weight 10lb 11 when he was born and due to only be on IV the first 2 days and then some jaundice lost a whole pound. We went back 2 days later and he weighed 10 3.. so we were really happy about that. Then we went back 4 days later (for his 2 week check up) and he was still the same. So I started worrying, but doc didn't seem to worried (just said make sure I'm waking him at night to feed) We had him checked yesterday with a home nurse (and LC) and he only gained 1 oz. (2 days after the doc apt) I asked her why he wasn't gaining even tho he is eating every 2 hours and emptying my breast each feeding and having tons of wet/solid diapers.. She said he was doing fine and BF babies don't gain as quickly as FF babies. I guess there are trying to get a different chart for weight gain for BF babies. She really made me feel better.. We have another weight check at the docs on Tues (a week after his 2 week check up) so I'm interested in what he weights then.
