My job prospects aren't looking great, so it's possible that I'll be SAHMing for another year. Is there a book or a website that discusses activities I could do with the Sprouter to help his development? Right now, we just do playing on the floor and when he's bored of that,
we go on a walk or he bounces in his jumperoo. Rinse & repeat. Frankly I'm not sure what else I should be doing.
I will make more of an effort to get him around other kids so he won't be 18 months at daycare & just anti-social with the other kids.
Re: Resource for development activities?
I highly recommend the free programs at the library. I've really enjoyed taking my DD while I was on maternity leave.
Here are my favorite children development blogs from Google Reader
www.notimeforflashcards.com
www.icanteachmychild.com
chasingcheerios.blogspot.com
activitymom.blogspot.com
delightfullearning.blogspot.com
littlelearnerslounge.blogspot.com
I get an email from this site daily:
https://www.productiveparenting.com/aspx/MemberHome.aspx
It's free to sign up, you put in your child's age and they send you little activity ideas. They'll tell you what areas it targets, what to look for developmentally. A lot of them are cheesy (hold up a mirror, make these sounds, etc.) but they are all super easy and just an extra little idea!
Thanks everyone for the links! I'll add them to my reader.
I'm mostly concerned about his general socialization, not necessarily playing with kids. For the most part, he's around me & my husband except for maybe once or twice a month or so when we get together with family or friends.
