I posted a few days ago about DH having headaches and going to the doctor. They gave him some meds to try and referred him to a neurologist for an MRI. That was scheduled for the 21st. The meds haven't helped, so they had him come back in today. The gave him a shot but so far that hasn't helped either. The doc wanted an MRI today, so he goes in at 9pm. He also got an rx for some stronger painkillers. I would love your thoughts and prayers that the MRI shows nothing serious and that we can get the pain under control. He also has appointments with the chiro and for an eye exam in a week or so.
Re: DH headache update
hopefully he will get some answers soon! That is the worst part for DH, not having a definitive answer or a definitive cure when they do strike. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it does not.
Coribecca also suffers from migraines, and I remember she posted recently about a drug she recently found that controls them....was it blood pressure meds?
I'm sorry, Keri I was hoping for a better update. I know from my own headaches that when my back or hips were out, it would pull on the muscles and those would put more things out of whack which would pull on even more muscles, and it was a never ending cycle. Chiropractic really helped me with that, but I saw the best results by mixing chiro and massage. Any chance he could get a 1/2 neck/shoulder massage in this weekend or early next week?
Hugs mama...he needs to be healed before Max's big day! (well, and to be healthy also is nice in general).

I take a couple of meds for migraines. I take a blood pressure medication to prevent them, and a triptan med for when I get migraines.
I used to have headaches almost every single day, and migraines 1-2 times a week. I now will go 3 days (sometimes more) without a headache, and I'm down to about 3-4 migraines a month, but the triptan can usually stop 1 or 2 or those.
If he goes on a a daily med to prevent headaches, make sure he asks about the side effects! I've gotten some pretty nasty side effects from some of the meds I've tried.
I tried acupuncture when I was pregnant with Gavin to address migraines because I had very few options medication-wise. It worked to relieve the pain when I had a migraine, but didn't really do anything to prevent them. Maybe if I'd done it longer it would have made more of a difference.
The neuro probably already discussed this with him, but caffeine and headaches have a strange connection. Caffeine can cause them, but it can also cure them. That's why Excederin is so effective--one of the active ingredients is caffeine. My doc actually reccommended caffeine pills for my migraines when I was pregnant, and they worked. I'd only take half a tablet (100 mg), but a lot of the time that's all I needed to completely alleviate the mirgaine.
He can try keeping a headache journal to see if he can find a connection between his diet and the headaches. Sometimes they are caused by sensitivities to certain foods.
Best of luck to your DH! I hope they figure it out for him, and that it's nothing serious.

I hope he feels better soon. Migraines run really high in my family, and I would not wish them on my worst enemy.
I have memories of many nights curled up on the bathroom floor vomiting so much because of the intense pain. Once, I was at work (Starbucks) when a migraine came out of no where, and I passed out on the floor from sudden pain.
I have been on Topamax and Maxalt for when they hit. But also Cyproheptadine, Nortryptaline, and a few others. NOTHING works for me. Even the shot in the back of the neck.
As I get older, I slowly am growing out of them and have them less often.
I really hope he feels better, and they find something to help him.
Good luck to him and you tonight!! I hope that if they are able to figure it out that it isn't anything major and is an easy fix so that he's back to feeling better soon!
