Umbrella stroller or other lightweight stroller?

We have a chicco travel system and I want to get a lighter stroller for short trips and for when we don't really need the big chicco stroller anymore.

Would you just get a cheap umbrella stroller ($30 or so) or get one that's a little more expensive? I don't really know the difference and what will be more useful, etc.

Brand/style recs are welcomed!

Re: Umbrella stroller or other lightweight stroller?

  •  Our umbrella/travel stroller is the Baby Jogger City Mini, our main stroller is the Uppababy Vista.  So far both strollers have been well worth the extra money spent.

  • We have the Chicco Capri and it's just fine.  We don't use it all that often, but it was worth the $70 we spent.
  • I would definitely go in the store and try them out.  We looked at strollers last weekend and we felt like a lot of the umbrella strollers collapsed really awkwardly.  Our front runner right now is the baby jogger city mini, partly because of the way it collapses, but at $230, it is obviously pricey for a second stroller.
  • I am happy with the combi cosmo ex.

  • We have a Maclaren and LOVE it! But I have heard great things about the Chicco Liteway as well. It fully reclines and is less expensive than the Maclaren's.
