Cartoon Cuts Springfield Mall

Has anyone been there?  I desperately need to get DDs hair cut and thought this might work.  I'm open to other local suggestions, but I just don't want to pay $25 and up for DDs haircut.

Re: Cartoon Cuts Springfield Mall

  • we have gone twice and have had Mr. Le cut DD's hair. She actually sits still for him and he did a really good job. However, don't look to closely around the place because it is not the cleanest but since she was not getting anywhere near the sinks I decided I did not care :-)

I think they take appointments on the weekend.

  • we took dd there once about 2 years ago and it was about $20 for a cut and they did a pretty crappy job.  K got a really awesome cut at the Bubbles at Potomac Mills and I think it was $20.

  • We took DS to the one in Woodbridge.  He didn't like that he had to sit without mommy or daddy and cried the entire time.  He needs another haircut and I've been thinking about taking him to Hair Cuttery.  They do toddler cuts and said they have the child sit on mom or dad's lap.  Plus it's much cheaper.

  • I can never remember, but I think you live right near me, right?  If so, I take the girls to the Hair Cuttery in the shopping plaza just down Backlick - the shopping center that has Buy Buy Baby and TJ's...you know the one?  The ladies in there are lovely and nice to kids, and it's only $12.  DD #1 is fearless, but DD #2 has to sit in my lap because she's a little more timid.

  • I take our kids to Annie at Westover Barber Shop in Arlington.  It is a regular old fashioned barber shop, but Annie caters to cutting kid's hair.  She has a tv with kid videos, and there is a popcorn machine and lollipops, as well as some children's books.  It costs us $15 and she does a fantastic job, especially on my wiggly son!

ETA:  We went to Cartoon Cuts when it was in Tysons and they butchered DD's hair for her first haircut.  It looked absolutely terrible!

  • Don't go there unless you want it super short and choppy.  My son's first haircut was there and was fine (she barely took anything off), but two subsequent cuts turned out horribly - uneven, shorter than I requested (one time I had to ask the stylist to stop cutting).  Probably going to take him the the Lorraine April Salon in Old Town Alexandria next since I've heard they have someone really good there (though it's $30, so I probably do that once or twice to get it even again then maybe try somewhere like the place Artslvr suggested.
  • We took DS to Annie at Westover Barbershop for his first four haircuts (that I did not do).  For his last cut, though, we took him to the Hair Cuttery at the Whole Foods Shopping Center on Old Keene Mill Road.  Mina did a great job.
