Hi, I thought it best to ask you girls. and I realize this is only and estimate and opinion, i know everyone is different... but just need some frame of refrence.
Im only 6 weeks right now... and I have to order a bridesmaid dress for when I am 29 weeks. The dresss is kind of empire waisted...
Im a size 2 now...can anyone give me any estimate of how many sizes I should go up to be at 29 weeks?
Im also terrifed to order big and MC.... so do you think I should try to hold her off a little? she wants to order this week?
Please let me know any advice would be great.
Re: Need Estimate on how big 29 weeks is to order dress.
Maybe even a size 10. I don't know, its difficult.
I know this is frustrating, but there really is no way to know. Even people with the exact same measurements will carry differently. Personally, my maternity clothes are still too big, and I'm due in two weeks. I can still wear many of my pre-pregnancy dresses, particularly those that are empire.
In bridal wear,I think I'd go up two sizes, knowing it can be altered down that much, or up a size, without much problem.
This.
Also, are all of the bridesmaids wearing the same dress or same color in different styles? Maybe you can find a dress that is the same color that is actually a maternity dress so it will fit better. Going up so many sizes might be more inconvenient that finding a dress the same color because you will definitely have to alter it. I would google maternity formal dresses and see what you can find. I found my wedding dress this way.
I was a bridesmaid in a wedding at 27 weeks and had to order my dress very early in the 1st trimester as well.
I am not as small as you to begin with (normally an 8/10), but I ordered my dress 2 sizes too big to accommodate my bump and to make sure the dress didn't get too short in the front (this was the recommendation of the sales person)
I ended up having to get A LOT taken in and if I would have known how my body would have been at 27 weeks would have only ordered 1 size up, but you never know how you will carry or what kind of weight gain you will have.
Ask the store you are ordering from what they recommend, but I would probably order 2 sizes up just to be safe. They can always alter it down but it's pretty hard to let it out.
Congrats on your pregnancy!

Everyone is different but I was a size two pre-pregnant and am now 29 weeks! I'm not sure about your height but I'm only 5 foot so there's no where for this baby to go except out.
A friend of the family died recently and just to see, I "tried" to put on a pre-pregnancy and I could barely get it on my body much less do any form of zipping. It's not just your belly that gets bigger, your ribcage itself expands to make room, your hips widen and for me, my boobs have tripled in size.
I would hold off as long as possible! You say you don't want to order too big but lemme tell you, by 29 weeks if you have your dress and it's too small...it's not only depressing but it's much harder to make a dress bigger rather than smaller!
This. For my brothers wedding I had already ordered my dress but wasnt pregnant at the time. I got big fast since it was my 2nd and my boobs were huge. When it came in I went and tried it on it fit but obv the wedding was about 2 mo. away so I needed a bigger size. The lady helping me was great and I am pretty sure I went up 2 dress sizes. I didn't have to do any alterations!
I'm not sure if anyone else mentioned this, but it isn't just your belly that might grow. Your boobs could be bigger, your rib cage could expand, your ass/hips could expand.
Its nearly impossible to figure out how your body is going to change. Everyone kept telling me that I would gain all over, due to my natural tendency to put on weight and genetics. They were wrong. I'm almost all belly, but my expanded rib cage has made many empire styled pre-pregnancy clothes impossible.
