March 2011 Moms

As a mom, I will never....

I thought it would be fun to post the Mom rules about which we are pretty adamant.  Then let's post again come May and see how it is going.

2nd+ time moms, share what yours were and where you stand now.

Here are mine:

1. I will never have my kid sleep in our room or co-sleep:   This went out the window week 2 when I realized I could get 10 straight hours of sleep if DS slept in our bed! We will try this rule again with # 2.

2. I will never have one of the kids with the cruddy faces: After about 15 months, I gave up the battle. I could wipe his face 12 times an hour and it is still cruddy!

3. I will never let my kid eat tons of junk food:  I have stuck with this!  From EBFing, to making my own baby food and now sneaking veggies into everything possible, I feel DS is getting good nutrition.  Me on the other hand..bring on the cookies :-)

Re: As a mom, I will never....

  • 1.  I said I would never keep a journal of input/output.  After forgetting several times when the last feeding/change was, I journal everything.

     2.  I never wanted to be one to update facebook with only baby updates.  In the last week that's all I've done.  I will NOT have any diaper/breastfeeding updates though.

    3.  I also said I would never put those cute bows or headbands on her.  Since she was born with a head full of beautiful brown hair, I have to get some asap!

It's only been a week for me so I'm sure there's a lot more of my never's to come.

  • Never say never :)

    1. I had some strong opinions about bed-sharing and co-sleeping, but after having a child that is a pretty wacky sleeper it's the only way we get sleep. I will continue to try to get her to sleep independently, but we shall see.

    2.  Let me child hang out in a onesie all day instead of putting her in cute outfits.  Um, lets call this a silly first time mom thing. If I had any idea how work it can be to get those things off and on for diaper changes.....

    I think that's all.

  • Never say never... okay, that's not a plug for Bieber.

You never know what you'll do if you're desperate enough. Trust me. I've done several things in the past week that I said I'd never do.

your #2 and #3 are mine too...I am SURE I will cave with the last one if I have a girl and #2 went out the window soon after I announced to the world.  Oh well...if people get tired of it they can hide my posts!

  • 1) Use TV as a baby sitter. This is my number one pet peeve, especially for children under 2.

And that's about it. I'm willing to go with the flow on almost everything else.

LOL, this was mine as well and went out the window while being pregnant in winter with a toddler!  So I guess I don't need to type it out now since you did it for me.  Stick out tongue

Oh, I thought this one, too!  Just this morning though, I popped in a DVD and took an 30 min nap while DS watched it!

I think I must have had more "rules" than most of you 1st time moms! It is awesome that you are all so open minded and flexible!
