I live in Harford CO and so far the only date avail at the Health Department is March 20th...most likely too late for us...I've tried google searches but cannot seem to find anything. Any recs close by (Towson, Baltimore, Essex, etc.) that may offer them for free and soon. Thanks!
Re: car seat inspections
... every single day of forever.
LOL it was actually your post a couple weeks ago- someone recommended a place in Bel Air that does them for free...
https://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/48161858.aspxI know you are looking fro free, but if you decde to go the convenient route "GMBC Parent Connection" will set this up for you. (The same number you use to sign up for the breast pump rental and the childbirth classes.)
So you could make an appointment for the next time you have a doctor's appointment. I believe the fee is $35.
From what I understand a lot of fire departments and police stations don't do this anymore. So if you are thinking of going that route you may want to call ahead first.
And on another note... We ended up getting to bring DD home from the NICU earlier then we thought, and hadn't done the carseat instillation yet. DH did it in the parking lot of the hospital and we had the NICU nurse check our installation. It was fine and free!
Ditto this - the car seat inspections were all full when I called for appointments. The nurse at the hospital checked it after DH installed it and it was fine!
Happy Birthday, little man. We love you so much!
My favorite money saving tip: I've earned more than $300 in gift cards (Amazon, Starbucks, Southwest!) using SwagBucks for internet searching - and you can too! It's FREE and EASY!
I've mentioned before that I could check your car seat for free as I am a certified car seat technician. I'm located in the city though and not sure you want to drive in for it. Let me know if you'd like my information.
Another thing you could do is go to a seat check event. There is one being held this Saturday at Al Packer Ford on Pulaski Hwy from 10am-1pm. you can probably find the information on MD KISS website...

Good luck!
Our NICU nurses explained to DH exactly how they wanted the car seat base in the car, and when it came time to take DD home, the head nurse came out to the car and made sure that the car seat was properly installed.
Interesting- the nurses in the NICU wanted to make sure we had a car seat, but didn't say anything about installing it and definitely did not check it.
When we toured L&D they actually told us that now you have to have a special certification to inspect a seat. Not sure how new this is but that's why the nurses now cannot check it. At GBMC you pay $35 to have some safety guy check it.
