2nd time c-sections question

I'm likely to have a c/s on Monday since junior doesn't seem too motivated to make much progress towards his own delivery.  When you had your 2nd c/s, did they make the incision on top of your first scar or is it slightly below or above it?

Re: 2nd time c-sections question

  • my Dr cut out the original scar and went thru the same incision, so you will not have 2! she'll go thru the same entrance and exit:)

    good luck!!

my 2nd c-s was such a much more pleasant experience than my 1st (emergency) one

  • My doctor said they always use the same incision.  Good luck with your c-section.  Mine is 7 weeks away.  I'm looking forward to seeing how different it is since with the first I went through a long labor, 3.5 hours of pushing, an episotomy and a vacumn attempt delivery prior to the c-section.  Needless to say I had to heal in both areas- ouch!  I'm thinking this one will be much easier!

  • I had a lot of scar tissue from a healing issue after my first emergency c-section so my doc cut above my old scar and then cut out my old scar to remove the scar tissue and help it heal better.  It was great, my second scar looks 100 times better than the old one and I had no healing issues this time.  I also agree that the 2nd c-section seemed like a walk in the park healing wise compared to my first.
  • They cut my original scar but the incision is bigger (emergency this time).  The recovery has been much, much easier this time around.
