Need advice - dh / depession?

So I know that our dr recommends if as a mom you are still feeling the baby blues after 2 weeks to call and see if it could be ppd. My dh has been depressed since dds birth and im just wondering if the same rules apply for men. I know men glo through changes/ hormones / etc like we do but he just isnt happy. Should I "make" him go talk to our family dr about this?

TIA

Re: Need advice - dh / depession?

  • my dh is the same way!  Although he is alittle better today, but this morning I posted about it on the feb 11 board.  With him, I'm waiting a few days/weeks to see how he does, but if he stays down, I'll talk to him about talking to someone..  They are under alot of new stress now and not sleeping well either (DH has been sleeping in the other room to get some sleep, which has helped..)

  • Yes! I read in the Baby Talk or Parenting magazine that DHs can get the baby blues and definitely need some talk therapy with their docs if they show signs.
  • YES! Man can get postpartum depression too. They are going through the changes (though not all the same) as you.
