Mommy groups- how young is too young

How old was your LO when you started going to mommy groups?

I need to start meeting people since we are new here. Ive been cooped up in here too long!

ETA: I joined PEPS but not sure when it starts yet

  • I started at the Evergreen parent-baby group when he was 2 weeks.  It's free through 3 months, even if you didn't give birth there.  Definitely do it if you can.  I started hanging out with a subset of those mommies, and we still see each other often even though we long since stopped the classes.

  • You're welcome at the Baby 'n Me class at ShoreNorth Co-op Preschool.  Emily and I go there Tuesdays, 1:30-3:00.  It's nice to get out of the house.  The youngest in our class right now is 4 months but you're totally welcome!  It's a pretty easy going group (feed, change, do whatever you need to take care of baby during class w/out worrying about it) and I think it runs similarly to PEPS.

Also - I love going to Mommy Movie Thursdays at 10 a.m. Lincoln Square Cinema in Bellevue.   Not really meeting new people there, but it's nice to get out of the house for a movie.  Plus the staff delivers concessions to you, the sound is turned down and the lights are up a bit.

  • I took B to our first parent-baby class when he was 10 days old.  It's never too early in my opinion.  It's so good to get out of the house and spend time with other mommies.
  • I think it's never too early! My PEPS group started when my LO was 6 weeks, but the youngest baby in our group was only 2 weeks, it just depends on when they have enough people to form a group, I think. Oh, and PEPS has been awesome for us; we still get together all the time, even though the formal meetings ended six months ago.

  • I went to the Evergreen Parent-Baby classes when DS was a couple months.  I would've gone sooner, but I didn't have a clue what I was doing.  :)  There were plenty of girls who came to that class while still in the hospital after childbirth!

My PEPs group started up when DS was a few months old.  I wished it had started sooner!

Get out as soon as you can - it will help you keep your sanity.  :)

That sounds really fun! I'll let you know if me and Gracie go to the Baby 'n Me class! And the movie thing sounds awesome :)
