Weird. Just weird.
My MIL is an ECE here and gave me crap for not having registered yet, so I did it today. The waiting list here is about 1.5-2 years. So I registered baby D with an anticipated start date of August 14th, 2012.
Also, I am going to be sharing the news with my coworkers at Monday's monthly staff meeting and will be telling my students the following day.
Funny how it's starting to feel a little real.

That's right. So I'll be on mat leave from Sept '11 until Sept '12. I put my anticipated start date as mid-august because the daycares as less busy then and going through less change than they are at the beginning of Sept (when school starts up again).
OMG seriously? That would mean I would need to get put on the wait list like 2 years ago!
This LO is being shipped off to day care in October 2011 ::shakes fist at crappy mat leave system::

I HATE how little time my southern neighbours get! That is just not right. I know it wasn't always a year here (my mom still had a few months of mat leave when I was born), but it has come a long way.
There has been talk of extending it to 18 months, but I don't know how serious that is. Also, with my board, we have the option of taking an extra year (leave w/out pay) without losing our position or any seniority.
Wow, that is awesome if they can extend it. Honestly, DH and I are lucky enough that we could swing it financially for me to stay home w/out pay for a year, but my job would be beyond gone if I wanted to take more than 3 months off. It sucks. I don't need paid leave (but it would be beyond awesome)....I just want to be able to get my job back and keep my licenses.
