Eat more?

Ty is eating 3-4 oz every 2 hours. He went to the doctors today and his weight is in the 15th percentile. Apparently he needs to eat more! Seriously? We feed this kid all the time! He will be 1 month tomorrow and is up to 7lb 9oz and 21 inches....he's already grown an inch and a half since birth.

Re: Eat more?

  • Isa eats a ton too, she has her 1 month tomorrow. I'm anxious to see how much she's grown.

  • DD feels so heavy to me now. She was 6 lb 1 oz at birth, dropped to 5 lb 2 oz at her lightest and then jumped to 6 lb 8 oz in a week. If she continued with that rate she would be over 8 lb now. Her 1 month is Wednesday and I'm excited to see how much she has gained - she seems huge!

  • We have no issues with MJ and eating.. the butterball went from a birth weight of 6 lbs 8oz to 8 lbs 15 oz at 1 month.

  • I don't remember how much Ty's birth weight was but Isaac was 6lbs 4oz at birth, 5lbs 12 oz when left the hospital and at his pedi appt today he was 8lbs exactly. The pedi said we may even be feeding him too much and he only eats 3 oz every 3 hours. To me, feeding your LO more then 4 oz every 2 hours doesn't sound like it would be very good for his tummy and, if anything, would cause spit up because they are overfull.

  • My last appointment the pedi recommended I start waking him up to eat at night since he sleeps 6 hours at a time. I never did cause he still eats 3-4oz every 2-3 hours during the day. He went from 6.7 at birth to 8.8 today. Obviously his 6 hours without eating is not a problem.

  • I'm stressing about this right now.  DD has another appt with the pedi tomorrow morning to get weighed.  Last week she had 2 appts and gained 2 oz in the 3 days between appts.  The dr said that was ok as she's supposed to gain 4-8 oz in a week so she was on track.  But now it's been a full week (the longest we've gone without a weight check) and I'm really hoping she's gained well.  She feels heavy but I can't really tell.  It's so hard because I'm EBF so I don't know how much she gets at each feeding!
