In the past I think it was okay to have links in a post to an etsy business, etc. as long as it was not yours. I'm not sure exactly when it happened but the rules have changed so that it is NO LONGER OKAY to post links to any etsy store, or business, even if it is not yours and you are just recommending it to another user on here. Basically, if someone asks for a reference or a referral, you need to send them a PM with any links.
People are being temporarily banned for doing this as a warning.
Also, as was previously in the rules, you cannot link your own business in your signature. I know a bumpie on here recently thought it was a personal attack that she was asked to remove her link from her signature, but it is definitely a rule on here that everyone has to abide by and nothing personal.
If anyone has any questions about this or any other parts of the TOS, feel free to ask here or send me a PM ![]()
Re: TOS Clarifications
So this is only for etsy and personal vendor website, not all websites, then?
Several other mods have said it was all external vendor sites, not just Etsy or personal vendor websites.
Unable to even.

You don't understand the appeal of Benedict Cumberbatch / think he's fug / don't know who he is? WATCH SHERLOCK. Until you do, your negative opinion of him will not be taken seriously.
In the next TOS, I'd like to see a requirement that the bump remove it's head from it's a$$.
I'm going to make an AWESOME big brother.
Thanks

Agreed.
IHeartStuart, I know this isn't your rule and being a mod means you have to accept the Bump's rules, but seriously...
WTF?????????????
FFS. This is absolutely ridiculous. These boards are a place not only for communities of proximate people (local boards), like minded parents (CD, AP, EFF) or people dealing with similar issues (age boards, special needs) but also a place where people can go for information which yes, includes where to find things online! PM's do not cut it when it comes to dispersing information that may be helpful to others. Here's an example:
Business X is having a big sale on kids' clothes. Do I PM every.single.Bumpie to let them know? No, that's ridiculous. But a PSA gets that info across to everyone so that we can HELP each other. Parenting is challenging, stressful, financially frustrating and any help and support we can offer to each other in any way is good. I dislike spammy vendors as much as the next person, but if I ask "hey, where do you guys get good nursing bras?" I expect that a) I'm not the only person wondering that and b) that people are not so interested in my questions that they will take the time to PM every person who has a question they can answer, or turn off Java so they can Bump from their iPad or iTouch, or whatever. It's ludicrous. And where do we draw the line? Can we mention brick and mortar stores and not just avoid links? Are nonprofits ok to mention? Freebies like doublem's chocolate survey PSA? What it we're sharing a *bad* experience?
Ugh, I am just so annoyed. Who can I write to about this to complain?
You are allowed to have a post stating that someone is having a sale on clothes, etc. You just cannot post the link to the business. I think that clarifies the issue you are referring to.
Like I said, I don't make the rules, but I do have to enforce them. You can email community@thebump.com to let them know about any complaints you have regarding their terms of service.
Thanks Carrie.
So you mean I could say something like...
PSA- I found this great ___ seller on Etsy/online called ___. For those looking for ____ you should check it out.
Basically giving all the info except the direct link? All that does is make extra work for the searcher but doesn't prevent people from sharing stuff. If that's the case, fine- it's dumb but workable.
Trust me, I don't understand the rationale with making it okay to talk about businesses, etc and just not allowing links, but ya that's what I am getting from this. Though, if it is your business or what not, then you cannot do any sort of soliciting in posts, regardless if there is no links in there.
My only business is azz kicking...and business is good.
Er, I mean to say, I don't have anything to pimp.
Stupid rules FTL.
Yep, no links.
And great, Shane, now you are busted for advertising your azz kicking business on here. The nest gods WON'T be happy!
Then I'll just have to kick their azzes!! ;p
Threat.....or promise?? heh heh
Here's my promise- next time the Heels and 'Cats meet you suckers are goin' down!
Who's that with you in your siggy, btw?
We are friends, but if our teams end up playing each other in the tourney, my team is gonna give your team the beat down! But can we be friends again after?
That's Momo Jones. He is one of my faves! I was gonna use the pic of Derrick Williams but I feel so short next to him. He must be like close to 8 feet tall.
Jill~ No tiny url's. No type of links.
True! We should actually be giving ourselves big pats on the back for making our marriages work. Though, since both of our teams are better than our DH's, it's easier on us than them
Haha jk. I'm so bad...
Questions:
1. What about AW'ing our child's photographs via a photographers blog? Technically they are a vendor, however we aren't linking to a priced item. On the other hand, we are linking to something that did have a price attached to it.
2. Recalls - technically a link to an item, and may be a link to the item on the manufacturers or distributers website (Babies R Us etc.). While a price wouldn't be associated it with, it's still an item and could be on a vendor site.
3. Links to stories - if there's a story on a news media website, and that website also sells items with their logo/brand on them, is that far enough removed to not be an issue?
4. Party blogs?

1. You can link to the picture, I believe, or put a PIP but I'll get clarification on this.
2. Recall links are fine.
3. This is fine.
4. As far as I know, this is fine, but I'll also check on this..
With my photographer, I wouldn't be able to PIP or link to a specific picutre, it would be an entire blog post.

I'll ask just to get clarification because that stinks. A few bad people ruined it for the rest...
