New here! Apple Valley pedi recs?

Hi ladies!  I'm new to this board, and pretty new to MN too.  I'm due in June, and the OB told me I need to find a pedi and let them know at my next appointment.  I'm sure this question has been asked a ton, so I apologize if I missed any recent posts.

We live in Apple Valley, I'm going to OBGYN Specialists in Burnsville, and I'm delivering at Fairview Ridges.  I'd like to find a pedi in Apple Valley, but I guess Burnsville would be ok too.  I've only done a google search so far, and I'm just clueless.  We don't have any friends or family here to ask, so any recs from you ladies would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

  • I go to Southdale Pediatrics in Burnsville.  They have been ok so far.  To tell you the truth if we didn't love our doctor so much we probably wouldn't go there anymore.  But a friend of mine goes there too and she likes it a lot.  We have Dr. Hersey and she has Dr. Hanson.  It's mostly the front desk people that we have had problems with and also inconsistencies with the doctors.  For instance, my friend's DS was born on the exact same day as my DS.  We had our 6 month appts on the exact same day and they wouldn't give my DS the flu shot b/c he wasn't 6 months old until the next day.  But they gave it to her DS.  We had to make another trip the next day to get him the shot and waited in the lab for OVER A HALF HOUR (and we even had an appt.) just to get the shot.  Not very happy with that.  But again, we love Dr. Hersey.  I'm not sure if this is helping at all or just making you more confused.  Sorry.....

It helps, thank you!  I've noticed inconsistencies at my OB office too.  There are 7 doctors there, and they said to try and see all of them because you don't know who will be on call the day you deliver.  I've seen 4 of them, and they've all kind of said different things to the same questions I've asked.  For instance, when I asked about sleeping on my back, one of them said try not to and at least put a pillow under one side.  I asked another doc at the next appt, and he said "that's all garbage" and not to worry about sleeping on my back.... I don't know... Anyway, thanks for the info!

  • My son see's Shelia Jenkins at Burnsville Park Nicollet, which is right next to Fairview Ridges. She is so friendly and easy to talk with! We love her!

  • I work at a local pharmacy and we see A LOT of RX's from Southdale Ped's. Apple Valley Medical Center is popular but I've heard negative things. Good luck, I totally forgot I had to find a new OB. :-( I lived in the northern 'burbs when my daughter was born.
