NBR: Help with Mexican food?

Anyone know where you can get delicious mexican food that actually uses flank steak for their carne asada? That's what H wants for his birthday dinner! If you aren't sure about the flank steak, just tell me your favorite mexican and I can look up the menu myself :)

  • On Route 4, there is a hole in the wall mexican restaurant called Taqueria Mercado. The menus are in English and Spanish. It is very very good. IT is not fancy at all but the food is great. Very very hole in the wall. I THINK there carnitas is authentic but they don't have a website for me to confirm. https://www.cincinnatibites.com/reviews/taqueria-mercado/

And for good measure.. a pic of Audrey enjoying their beans and rice a little too much.

  • It's kind of a hole in the wall in northern Kentucky, but Rio grande is aaaamazing! It's been my favorites for 8 years.

I hit up the Florence location pretty often.  I don't think I'd call it a hole in the wall now in their new location on Houston Road.

I also love Taqueria Mercado.  The one in Florence is located in the Ramada in off 42.  The restaurant that used to be at the Ramada (acapulco) moved to the previous location of the Rio Grande on Mall Road.

  • We like El Rancho Grande on rt 42 in Sharonville.  We also go to Fiesta Brava on Fields Ertel a lot.  I have heard great things about Nada, but we never go that far for Mexican food.  It's on my must try list.

  • I agree regarding Taqueria Mercado in Fairfield. That would be my first suggestion.

El Pueblo in Blue Ash would be my second suggestion.

I don't know about the carne asada specifically at either location, but Taqueria Mercado is closer to authentic than most places in the area, and El Pueblo gives a stronger nod to authentic than most places in the area.
