Daycare update

We have seen a little improvement this week. Yay! Still crying in the morning but he has been happy in the afternoons when we pick him up. He was even asking for one of his teachers the other day and told her he loved her one afternoon. He also strted telling us a little about his day when we ask, what he played with, mentioning one or two classmates, etc...This has made me feel so much better! I hope it continues to improve.

One question though- after we get home he gets so irritable! He cries and has tantrums about anything. I think part of it is he is more tired after being at daycare all day, even though he naps there. Any advice on making the transition back home any easier? Thanks ladies!

Try talking to him in the car about what you're gonna do when you get home. Gavin seems to do better if we prepare him for whatever is coming up. So like, I'll tell him when we get home we are going to eat dinner and then go poop in the potty. Who poops? Everyone poops! After Gabba poops in the potty, he can watch some pirates. After pirates he can play with his pirate ship in the bathtub. Do you want to play with your pirate ship in the tub? What color do you want to make the water (we have color tablets- he gets to pick a color every night and throw them in). And as you do each thing, remind him what comes next. That way he knows what to expect each night.

We went through the same thing with the exhaustion and irritability. Now after a few months, it's gotten better...but it comes back with full force if he doesn't nap well that day. We just tried to give him an super early bedtime and let him catch up on as much sleep as possible on the weekends. I also got our morning routine down to a science so he can sleep until the last minute.
