Does anyone have a FSH around 14?

I was just told that my FSH is 14, but since I have a cyst on my ovary my dr wants to wait until next month to start clomid.

we're still waiting for my rpl panel results to come in. DH's b/w was good. He's doing a SA tomorrow. but i think that will come back normal.

does anyone else have a elevated FSH? What's steps have you taken to TTC?

My doctor does not test FSH, as that can fluctuate so much. He tests AMH, which is a different ovarian reserve test. My AMH is very low - it was 0.8 when I had it tested over a year ago, and normal for my age is around 3. (And it decreases by 0.1-0.2 per year on average, awesome...)

Did you get the cyst on a Clomid cycle? I ask because it it pretty uncommon to get ovarian cysts with diminished ovarian reserve, because with DOR your estrogen levels are generally pretty low, so on a natural cycle it's not common to get a cyst.

No I wasn't taking clomid yet. I was going to start taking it on saturday, but since they saw the cyst they wanted to wait to see if it went away on its own. if it does go away, I'll start clomid next cycle.

Do you think I should ask to get my AMH tested?

Are you with an OB or an RE? I doubt an OB will know much about AMH. It is a more reliable test of ovarian reserve than FSH is. FSH should really be tested in combination with LH and E2 for a more complete picture. One solitary FSH reading does not mean a whole lot.

ETA: also, I assume your FSH was drawn today, CD3?

Right. It was tested w/ E2 (which I assume is estrodil). I met w/ an RE.

I have a cyst which could elevated my estrodil level, which could then decrease my true FSH. so if I have a FSH of 14 now, it could be lower than it would be normal since I have the cyst. so it's possible that my FSH is higher than 14, which is bad.

Does that make sense?

Yes, that makes sense. Maybe you should have it re-tested on a cycle where you don't have a cyst, for more accurate results. And/or an AMH test. Did they do an antral follicle count? You've gotten pregnant twice in 6 months so clearly you are ovulating and getting pregnant. Given that, why does your doc want you on Clomid?

(Basically, what I'm still driving at is that *just* the info of FSH = 14 doesn't mean much. Your plan going forward needs to take into account the whole shebang, not just one number)

No, they didn't do a AMH, but I'm going to ask about it.

I asked my dr why he wants me to take clomid if I'm O'ing on my own. And now that I think of it, the answer doesn't make sense. hmmm.
