Working until due date

How many of you are working until your due date?  How are you able to concentrate?  I have been having trouble being productive at work since I found out I was pregnant, but now it is even worse!  I am done working once my baby arrives, so that may have something to do with it.  Plus I work at an event center and this is our slow time of year, so it has been slow at work.  I am done on April 1, with or without baby, but I can't wait!

Re: Working until due date

  • I have a meeting with my boss tomorrow and I plan to discuss this.  Since I'll be being induced within week 39, I plan for my absolute last day of work to be April 15.

  • I'll be working up until the week before my due date (the week before is our Spring Break... I'm a teacher).  I'm sort of worthless here though... The kids are getting antsy too w/ Spring right around the corner, so it's all I can do to keep a hold on them whilst not exactly being super duper productive during planning periods.

  • I am! I'm needing to train my coworker on two things and we are doing that tomorrow.  After that, it's going to be hard to be here.  I'm due April 8th so I'm thinking that if she doesn't come by April 1st, I'll be making April 4th my first day of maternity leave official.  I can't imagine working that last week, I'd be no good.

  • I am!  Two weeks before my due date I'm out at a client location (hour drive from home, 30 minute drive from hospital).  the week before my due date, I have admin on my schedule so I'll either be working from home, working from the office (which I really hope not because driving to the train station, train ride and walk to office is a 2 hour commute door to door), or I'll have an outside baby by then!

  • I'm working up until I push this baby out.  I have an office job so it's not that difficult.  As for concentrating well I just gave up on that.  =)
  • I'm totally struggling...I think some of it has to do with the extreme exhaustion for me.

  • I will be working up to due date as I did with DS also.

    LOL

I have a desk job too - but sitting at this desk it starting to bother me now. Even if I can get up and walk around for breaks. I talked briefly with my boss that if this baby doesn't come by her due date (April 3rd) then I won't be coming in on the 4th (which is a Monday).

  • I had planned to work until my due date, but am now on bedrest until 36 weeks. I will go back to work then (pending LO does not make an early arrival). I want to spend all of my maternity leave actually with my baby, I don't want to be sitting around at home waiting for labor to start.

  • I worked up to my delivery with DD, but I worked from home the last 2 weeks. I was planning on doing the same this time, but I decided today after my dr. appt that I'm going to work until the Friday before my due date.
  • Well I just scheduled a hearing yesterday for April 18 and my EDD is April 22 so as long as I don't come early I will be.  However I warned the judge that there was a good chance I would not be available.

  • I'm working until the bitter end.  It's pretty slow at work right now and people are easy on me since I'm pregnant.  I'd much rather save the days off to be with the baby when he's here!!
  • I hope to.  I am a college professor and my coworkers offered to take over my classes at the beginning of April.  (There are not substitutes in college.)  I feel bad making them cover my classes for a whole month so I m going to try to work as long as possible.  My bigger worry is that I have a 1.5 hour commute, so I might stop working a little early just to avoid that.

Yes  I'll be at work as long as this baby allows me to.  I had my supervisor quite nervous when I told her even if I was over due I would still come in.  LOL!

Ditto this, especially saving the time off until he's actually here.  I think getting up and going to work will keep me from getting too anxious, too.  I think sitting at home waiting to go into labor must be awful - would much rather be at work with some kind of distraction to make the time go by.

  • I have an office job and I'm working until the end.  Whether that requires some work from home or not doesn't really matter.  I just figure I'd rather save the time up for LO and make some money while I'm waiting for LO to pop out.

I do have difficulty focusing some days, but other days I am really productive so it sort of evens out.

  • I'm due April 13th and my last day is scheduled to be the 15th.  Obviously if I'll stop earlier if I go into labor :-).

I scheduled off two weeks before Drew's due date and he came a week late so I was home for three weeks.  I really didn't like that.  I was super bored and the time went so slowly.  Can't say for sure, but I think I'll prefer working longer.

Plus, this time if I was home I'd be home with Drew and that's probably more work than just going to work!!

  • For my entire pregnancy, I've been planning on working until April 1st (last day of third quarter and before Spring Break--teacher here too) with my due date of 4/3.  The past week or so I have questioned myself because I'm so tired!

Now, I'm thinking March 25th sounds like a good day.

  • I plan on working until my due date. I am a nurse and these 12 hour shifts are getting long! However, they have me working every other day from here on out so that helps. I just try not to lift and I sit when I can. I don't want to use my vacation time without the baby!

  • Planning on working until he gets here.  I'm due on 4/15, but have told my boss that I'll work that day unless I go into labor.  I'm just too busy at work right now to take off early, plus I want to save all of my days for when he gets here.

  • I am working up until the end. I want to save my time off for LO! Luckily my due date is over spring break, so my last day will be April 1st (that is if they don't induce me on that days since I will be 39 weeks).

I wish this was an option at my work, but my supervisors are not a fan of "working from home" even though HR is a big advocate for it.

  • I am because my maternity leave is STD and until this kid is born I am not "disabled".

I will say I haven't been overly productive at work, but it's been kind of slow. When I have an actual project to work on I am able to concentrate and get it done. It's nice to have something to take my mind off of baby stuff. I think I'd go crazy if I was off for weeks before the baby was due.

  • I work in retail, and even at 32 weeks, it's getting physically difficult.  Being on my feet all day, moving things around all the time . . . not sure if I'll even make it to 38 weeks, which was my original plan.  I do have 12 weeks for maternity, plus two weeks of vacation, so I feel like I could take a little time off before my due date to finish getting things ready around the house, to cook some meals to freeze, and to enjoy what remains of the peace and quiet!  For now, I'm playing it by ear.
