Cloth Diapering

How do you handle poop at daycare?

First off, hi all, I have lurking around here for a few days.  I have started to CD at home but really want to broach the topic to my dcp.  The only thing I am unsure about is poopy diapers. What do you do?  Use liners?  Just have them roll it up, put it in a wetbag and deal with it when you get home?  We will be starting solids in a few weeks.  I'd love to hear any other advice.  Thanks!

  • The law here in Colorado is they cannot plop the poop and the diapers must be put in a container with a lid. so my DC just puts them in the plastic container if it's poopy she puts it in the wet bag in the container.

This also, but only when DS was transitioning to solids and now that he has diarrhea from the antibiotic he's on. When it's ploppable, daycare plops it. I had no idea they'd do that and was kind of surprised to find no poop when I went to clean them.

We do this too, but we have to put EACH diaper in its own wetbag since state law (apparently) states all diapers must be contained individually to prevent spread of disease. Our daycare actually puts each of the disposables other babies use in plastic bags before putting in the trash - such ridiculous waste!

  • I provide a small step trashcan that I put a wet bag in each morning. When she was in the infant room, they just threw the diaper in the can. Now that she's in the toddler room and is changed in the bathroom, they plop the poop (if it's plopable). This sounds really gross, but the poop actually comes off easier if it's dried some, so I'm able to get more off than they are.

  • If it's ploppable, then they flush it down the toilet.  If it happens to be a stickier consistency, they just roll it up in the diaper and put it in the wetbag in the diaper pail and I take care of it.

  • I haven't even thought about this....oh the extra joys I haven't ventured into yet!! haha Is this a gross process and does this cause more staining??
