Newborn Photos... Am I the only one?

That thinks the poses they put the babies in looks really uncomfortable? Or are the babies just that squishy??? I've always been so timid around newborns. I'm really careful with them and just feel like I'm going to hurt them if they move the wrong way. I'm sure I'll get over this once I have a newborn.

But some of the poses just look uncomfortable. Those of you with LO's already - did you do newborn photos? Did LO react different to the poses?

  • They are fairly pliable!  I watched my cousin have her son's done and they just got him to sleep and moved him all over the place.  He didn't wake up and didn't seem any worse for it.

  • They are very pliable and really hard to break Stick out tongue
  • They just sleep the whole time...my photographer said she plans to be at our house 3-4 hours so she can get pics of her while she is sleeping inbetween feedings and changes.

  • Okay, I feel better then. I was looking on Esty for a beanie or headband and some of the poses just look crazy! I plan on trying to do them myself and I didn't want to put her in something that may hurt her. Of course I guess I would get a good cry out of it if I did hurt her.

  • One of my best friends (more brother than friend) will be in town 3 weeks after my due date and he'll be doing my "newborn" pictures.  He's a freelance steampunk photographer with multiple facial piercings and tattoos.  It's going to look quite interesting with the two of us (I'm quite conservative looking) out photographing this little baby.   Even though I'm not around newborns at all, I know it's pretty hard to break them.  Big Smile

  • Dd gets her's done tomorrow at 2 weeks. She's pretty squishable still, lol. They are pretty hard to break, but with the first baby, totally a understand mind set. I remember thinking i was going to break my ds all the time when he got home. I soon got over that lol :)

  • newborns are so flexible! besides, they actually like being tucked into a ball - that is how they were in mommy's tummy. I took newborn pictures and my baby fell into those weird position by herself.
  • omg i feel the same way about newborns, i hate holding new babies becuase im scared im going to hurt them. haha i better get over that fast!

but they seem so fragile, but some people jsut flop them around like its nothing.

    makes me nervous haha.

  • Very floppy... you get over the breakable thing quickly...

MIL told DH she didn't like the one of DS on his tummy (his face was down in the pic, but we were watching the whole time)... what does she want us to skip tummy time altogether? In short, by the time you get to the pics LO will have already been in the poses at some point on their own...
