Wt gain after stopping BF

So, I can't really complain as I was perfectly happy with my pre pregnancy weight, but after having DS I got 5# below my starting weight which I'll admit I loved, but now as I wean from BF/Pumping, I seem to be creeping back towards my pre pregnancy wt...guess that's just where my body needs to be...damnit...oh well, maybe now I'll get my period back??  Anyone else gain wt. AFTER stopping BF?

  • I haven't stopped breastfeeding,but I hear it's a real danger for women because of the calories burned/ingested issue.

  • I stopped BFing at 6 months (I weaned from 4 to 6 months) and I was 5 lbs. away from my pre PG weight when I totally stopped BFing. In the last 4 months I have gained 15 (yah 15) lbs. Totally sucks. I don't know what to do. I never had to worry about weightloss before so I am totally clueless. I feel like I eat pretty healthy and it is hard to stay really active because I work FT and it is cold outside. It is really a bummer.

  • When I was BF, I only had 10lbs to lose to get to my pre pregnancy weight and after I stopped, I gained 5lbs so now I keep fluctuating between needing to lose 10-15lbs.. really sucks cuz I've NEVER had to diet before... I gained 46lbs during pregnancy so I guess 10-15lbs to lose isn't that bad.

  • Totally- the cold weather is such a roadblock...I work full time too and so feel guilty hitting the gym often, hoping that summer will help- walks will allow workout WITH quality time with L.O.

  • Try tracking your calories.  I haven't weaned yet but DD is nursing much less and I'm having to really watch my portions. Your body uses about 500 calories while nursing and if you don't adjust what you are eating after weaning you are likely going to gain weight.

  • Sad.  DS may be weaning and I'm not ready to battle weight gain.
