purse opinions please (nbr)

DH's brother is getting married Saturday, and I'm trying to figure out which purse I should take.  I'm wearing a knee-length black dress with a black beaded shawl.  Here are the options:

- I have a small black one that would be great, but it's not big enough to fit everything I need (especially being pregnant - Tums, Kleenex, etc) plus my camera.  I could carry my camera separately, in it's black case, but it's something extra to carry.

- I also have a grey purse that would barely fit everything, but it's grey, not black.

- I also have a mauve and dark brown purse that would easily be big enough for everything, but it's dark brown, not black.  It's be hard to tell without holding them next to each other, but I think it would bug me.  Other cons: it's an open-top purse, so if it tips, everything comes out; and I feel like it's not "dressy" enough with my outfit.

I have no money to buy a new purse.  There is the possibility that my MIL bought me a black purse we saw that I loved as an early birthday present, but she hasn't said anything in the multiple weekends we've seen them since we saw the purse.

What would you do?

*Sorry this got long :)  Have a brownie if you made it this far!

  • Well.. I don't know which purse to bring but maybe you could put the tums in a bag to save space and the same thing with the kleenex so that they aren't that bulky. Would that help? Were you already thinking of doing that?

Also, I don't think it would look bad to have a grey bag with your black dress.

  • Do what I do- bring the black purse and stuff DH's pockets!  Smile  He takes his suit coat off right away anyways so it's not like he is weighed down all night.  I also take the kleenex, tum, etc. out of their packaging to save room.

I have a travel package of Kleenex, and I'm just going to bring the Tums in a small bag.  I'll put some stuff in DHs pockets, but he's the Best Man, so I won't be by him for the ceremony, and I'm not sure if we're sitting together for the reception.  Thanks for the ideas, ladies!

  • I would go with the grey.  Grey is just as versatile as black but a bit more unexpected.  It sounds as if the mauve and dark brown purse (by the way you describe it) would not work well, not only because of the colors but also because it's not formal enough for a wedding.

  • Is there a way to include more gray into your wardrobe so you can carry the gray?

If not then maybe you can borrow your husbands pocket if you can't down size enough to fit it all in your purse. Do you know anyone your mom, sister, friend who has a purse you can borrow?
