It has been awhile since I have been on here! Quick question and my apologies if it has been asked one million times. Anyone on here give baby whole milk before 12 months? My friend recently told me I should start mixing whole milk in with formula and then get rid of formula all together. Any advice?
Re: formula/whole milk
Really. My daughter has a severe milk protein allergy and she, even on the most sensitive formula, neocate, still refuses to eat. I wish we could do this to see if it would make a difference, obviously we would need something that was milk protein free though.

I don't know how early is too early to start it but have you tried hemp milk?
what about goat milk? it's supposed to be easier to digest.
I honestly don't know what we are going to do when she turns 1. The specialist at Children's said that often parents find that babies just learn to process milk protein when they accidentally give them something with milk in it and realize that there was no reaction. They did say that Neocate makes a toddler formula that can be used, but it's so expensive now, I can't imagine being on it any longer than I have to. I didn't realize that there were other types of milk that might work.
goat's milk has dairy proteins in it (I think) so that might not work.
Hemp has no dairy
Our doctor wasn't concerned about the milk protein, just that she wouldn't drink. I would definitely talk to your doctor about the hemp milk. Having switched has made such a difference in our house. I don't have to stress/worry about her drinking enough in a day now.
God, I would love to not have to worry about that. She was supposed to come home from Children's with a feeding tube, but luckily she started taking the 24 oz they wanted her to have on her own. We actually mix the formula stronger so that it contains 26 cal/oz instead of the normal 20 cal/oz. But now that she's getting teeth and recovering from the flu her oz are between 15-18/day which means she's not gaining, even losing weight. Every time I feed her, it's a nerve-racking experience. I thought feeding would be this great, magical bonding time, but no, it's horrible and stressful and frequently I end up crying worrying she's going to need a feeding tube. I thought life was OVER when I failed at BFing... what a newb thing to freak about.
Aww! I'm sorry! I felt like we were always waking around with a bottle hoping to get another oz in her. The only time we have no issues is in the middle of the night when she is still mostly asleep so she doesn't really notice.
Maybe the hemp milk is exactly what you need (both of you). I would definitely talk with your doctor and than just talk about a vitamin supplement that would help. Good luck with it all! I hope she starts eating for you soon.
