Re: Pregnant (& TTC) After Preemie Check-in!

  • I'm sick :( It's 4:30am and I woke up a half hour ago with a sore throat and icky tummy. I'm drinking some juice for the Vitamin C and trying not to puke it up. Other than that, doing well! I have my next appt on Friday and we're coming out at church and on FB after that! It'll be a relief because I still feel like I'm in weird limbo and haven't embraced the pregnancy. Once we're fully out, I think it'll feel more like we're expecting things to go RIGHT instead of waiting for them to go wrong...does that make any sense at all?

  • I don't think I want to be on the list yet but I'm already thinking about the next one - I want to have lots of babies all of a sudden!  I'm nervous about having another preemie, though, so I'll be lurking and seeing how you guys are handling those feelings.  Congrats to those who are pregnant and good luck to those who are trying!

  • I'm hanging in there. My bp readings have been creeping up this last week. However, any time I'm at the dr. they are always good it is only when I'm home that they are high. Best I can figure is b/c when I'm at the office i actually get to sit still but here at home i have 2 very active boys. Had my 1st nst yesterday and everything looked great. Next Tues. I'll have another plus an appointment w/ the NP b/c my dr. will be out of town. I'm a bit concerned about seeing hte NP b/c I really want to discuss the fact that my readings are high at home and the possibility of switching to heparin instead of Lovenox. If I go into labor while on the Lovenox I will not be able to have an epidural and since I"m going to have a c-section that would mean general anesthetic which I really don't want.

So as I get closer to when I had the boys I can't help but worry about things especially since my bp is getting higher. I've very emotional lately and DH has been super busy at work w/ 10-12 hour days. Sad and many evenings is only home for a couple of hours before he has to leave again to do something.

T&P to those that need them. Hope everyone is doing well.

It's a REALLY common reaction (especially with later-term preemies who tend not to have very serious complications) to want to get pregnant soon after. There's a sense of wanting to experience what you lost with your last pregnancy. For me, that feeling passed after about 4 months, but we ended up trying again around 9 months anyway. GL and let me know when to add you to the list!

Pretty much the same here. I'm 17w, which is when I had my first abruption with DD, so I'm hoping I'll be able to breathe a little easier next week and start to believe this is happening :) GL to everyone!

  • hee hee My last cervical length check is actually this Friday, and I will certainly let you all know how that goes at next week's check in.  The baby is movin' and shakin' several times a day, and I just love this feeling.  :)  I feel, though, that I'm not documenting things like I did with Parker.  I have only taken one belly picture, and I have not been as good about writing down heart rates, etc. after OB appointments.  :(  Why is that?  Am I just really that busy?  My next hurdle after the last cervical length check is the glucose test.  Yuck.  I failed the 1-hour with Parker, but passed the 3-hour.  I hope I pass the 1-hour this time.  It'll be hard enough sitting there with a toddler during the 1-hour, let alone the 3-hour.  :(

Glad to know it's normal! We are definitely waiting 6 months no matter what so maybe I will feel differently then. I was planning a home birth so I am mourning the loss of that experience for both of us as well.

  • Appt this morning went well.  We weren't really able to hear the heartbeat though, so I was a little bummed about that.  She was able to catch it for a split second and then it was gone.  But all looks well otherwise.  I have no reason to believe there's anything wrong and we did see the hb at a previous u/s.

We will discuss p17 shots at my 20 week appt.  OB doesn't see any need to consider them sooner, which is a-ok with me.  He really thinks my pPROM from last time really was a crazy fluke thing and I'm not high risk this time.  So we'll measure my cervix at 20 weeks and go from there.  My next appt is 4/11 and then the big u/s will be the end of April.  Seems like so far away!

  • I'm a mommy again. :-) I'm so in love with Lucas and everything feels right in the world again. He looks a lot like Aidan and while it's sad, it also makes me very happy. It reminds me (like I could ever forget) that we had Aidan and that he's looking over us.

Thank you all so much for the support this pregnancy, it means so much to me.
