I know that skin turns yellow-ey as its dying, I would assume thats why, because its dead skin? (ew btw, just ew) Also, if LO is going to get cradle cap does it happen right away? Or does it come in after a certain period?

It comes in. My LO is already starting to get it. My pedi told me to put on s SMALL bit of olive/baby oil on the cradle cap areas, let it sit for 5-10 min, then use a baby brush to gently brush it away. Do this right before bath time.
Xander started getting it over the weekend. I didn't have any baby oil but I did have a brush that we came home from the hospital with. I just started brushing his scalp and it was coming right off. I had black pants on and it was crazy how much came off.
Why does it come anyway? I thought it was maybe dry skin because I don't bathe him very often.... only twice a week right now. He is so tiny (he is beefing up now) and 5lbs was just too small to put in the tub, sink or pink basin. I think he is about 8lbs now but I still only do it twice a week. Is that why?

If this is done will it keep the cradle cap from getting worse? Jude has super dry flaky skin on his head. My mom claims this is not cradle cap, but then again somehow out of 7 of us, nobody ever had cradle cap.

cradle cap isn't preventable. it's sort of like excema, it's just because an infant's skin grows and sheds so fast over the rest of their bodies, but that skin is exposed so it doesn't accumulate the way it does on the head. hair traps the dead skin, even babies who look bald have a small bit of hair.
