You should look for a running store and ask them to fit you.
What works for me won't be what works for you. And you have to find a serious running store - D!cks or Foot Locker just don't work. It's so worth it - you'll avoid a lot of pain if you buy the right shoes.
I have Brooks now. I think they're overpriced, but was training for a half marathon at the time and got carried away. I think my fav are Nikes. Fit matters way more than brand. You can also get inserts to help customize fit if you have problem areas on your feet.

This. When DS was about 4 months old, I got fitted at a running store. It is seriously the best pair of sneakers I have ever owned. They are Asics
I agree- you need to get fitted to find the best shoe for your stride (my personal favorite is Mizuno Wave Creation- it's a neutral shoe and kind of expensive, but totally worth it- I wore them for my last half marathon and just bought a new pair). The best place around Columbus is Road Runner Sports in Worthington- just don't get sucked into the over priced insoles they will try to sell you! And make sure to check the website b/c sometimes the prices are different but they will price match.

I love my Mizuno Waves! They are the best shoes for me. You should def. get fitted by a running store so you get the right shoe for your foot and running type. Good Luck!

This. And make sure someone experienced does it. The first time I went they had me in a pair that were way too big.
I tried Asics. They were comfy for walking around but didn't support my foot enough. I got sharp stabbing pains down the outsides of my feet whenever I ran for more than 5 minutes. I ended up in a pair of Nikes and still had to get a pair of inserts. I have high arches from ballet so most shoes don't support my feet correctly.
Re: Reccomend your Running Shoes (what's a good brand and what should I look for?)

Asics...they are expensive but well worth it!!! I started running and wanted to get the best shoe to protect and cushion my foot when running.
I tried on a number of shoes and the Asics were the best ones!!!!
