Pedi recommended chamomile tea

DD has been inconsolable last night and today. She did sleep a 4-hr stretch after a few hrs of crying last night. I've been nursing her when she's upset as it's the only thing that soothes her but somehow these crying bouts seem different. A neighbor recommended Mylicon so I called the pedi as I dont want to give her any medication without their approval. They called me back a couple of hrs later and told me to give her a little chamomile tea - has anyone heard of that? I googled it and it seems like a real thing. I kind of like that my dr is recommending a natural approach before just saying to take medicine. I made the tea but DD has been sleeping for the last while so I haven't tried it yet. I'd like to wait until DH gets home anyway, just in case she has a bad reaction so I'm not alone with her. Has anyone had any experience with babies and chamomile tea?

  • I gave it to my son when he was an infant. i can't remember how well it worked though.

  • I would give this to my first ds when he was gassy and/or constipated and it helped.  My mom gave it to all 6 of her kids too- it's apparently an Italian thing.

  • I'm a lurker from the March board... just like reading the baby posts!!! I came across this one- My sister did this for my neice when she was an infant.  She would add a little sugar (like a pinch) and diluted the tea so it wasn't full strength.  It always worked for her... I did the same with my DS as an infant b/c the Mylicon A) didn't work and B) I rathered use a non chemical gas relief.  It always worked to soothe my DS and I will definitely use again this time around when DD has any issues.  I hope it works for you! Good luck!
