co-sleepers

I have always been one to not want to co-sleep with LO. I am more afraid that I will squash him or a cat will lay on him. The past two days once a day after feeding and changing when he gets sleepy I rock him a bit until he is starts to falls asleep and then I will lay in my bed with him. I don't know why but he sleeps for 3 hours then! Anywhere else it's only 1.5-2 hours. That one nap with him a day has made a huge difference. I am scared he will get used to sleeping next to me and that will be the only way he will want to sleep! I am tempted to have him go to bed with me too at night because he sleeps so well and SO and I could actually lay next to one another in the same bed for once!

Who else co-sleeps? I am still scared I am gonna squash him!

  • I didnt cosleep with DD but DS is the same way as your LO.

I have something called a snuggle nest that I got at BRU but I recently saw them at Target. I see you are in minnesota, they had one at the Ridgedale target just last weekend!

It has been very helpful for me, I can actually get a few hours of uninterrupted sleep..that is, if the dog doesn't wake me.

  • I will have to try to find that! Is it a wrap or a bed/nest thing?

  • Well this Friday I am having a selfish day and my BF is stuck with the baby so I can get out of this house! I am getting my hair cut and I will have to check BRU! If not I am sure I can order it online. Thanks for the help!

  • Another thought/solution is side-carring the crib. It has worked wonders for us. We just matched the crib and bed heights, bungee corded the crib securely to the bed frame, bought and covered floral foam to snug the crib mattress to ours and voila, he has his own space literally six inches from me. I can snuggle him in bed until he falls asleep and then slide him over right before I zonk out.
  • I never ever thought we would co-sleep but because DS has horrible gas pains and it wakes him up screaming it is easier to co-sleep to comfort him and get him back to sleep right away instead of getting out of bed every 20-30 minutes and lifting him up waking him up even more.

It doesn't happen every night, just maybe twice a week. Once we get everything figured out he is back on his own.

  • We've had DD in our bed every night since we got home from the hospital.  We keep trying to put her down in her swing or PNP bassinet, but she just fusses and fusses.  If she's in bed with us she will sleep from 7 pm til 10 am, waking up maybe 4 times to eat and goes right back to sleep.  I'm a little worried about transitioning her to her own bed, but at this point I figure it's ok if my 9 day old is a little clingy.
