My husband and I just had our first prenatal appointment yesterday and during the ultrasound we found out we're expecting twins!! This is so incredible and we're so thrilled because we miscarried twins last summer and I never thought we'd have the chance to have them again!
Re: 1st trimester. . .twins!?
I have twins all over in my family on both sides. My dad's great great grandmother had 3 sets! I also have several aunts with twins on both my mom and dad's sides.
So exciting!! Now to figure out names. . . my husband doesn't want to find out the sexes so we'll have to have quite a few options/combinations since they are fraternal!
I too am having twins and i was pregnant with twins previous but lost the one twin( the girl at 32 weeks) If you have any ?s or just want to talk I am around or send me a messsage hope all is going well for now
Congrats!! Please come join us on the multiples board--it's a wonderful resource! I'd also suggest getting a copy of Dr. Luke's When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets or Quads--it gives lots of detailed info regarding carrying multiples!
Please feel free to ask me any questions. Wishing you a healthy, uncomplicated pg!!

That's actually not true... if they are dizygotic, diamniotic twins, they are fraternal - two separate ova fertilized by two separate sperm. They have separate amnion sacs, and two placentas they can call them fraternal via U/S.
And I am an U/S tech!
Not true - if the single egg splits very early, the twins can be identical and also each have their own sac and their own placenta. So there really is no way to know for sure unless they are b/g twins or after birth.
Right.
WTF are they teaching u/s techs?
I had di/di ID twins. Explain that u/s tech.
