Warrior

*Note - this is a nosy post.

I have been thinking about your DD and wondering how she's doing.  You posted not too long back that she seemed to be regressing a bit, having some communication issues, etc.  Are things better?  She's on my mind often, I hope things are looking up.

Re: Warrior

  • We're muddling through. Her therapist really seems to think her behavior is that of a typical 6 year-old, so I guess that's comforting. She only has issues with me and does just fine with everyone else. It's frustrating.

Parenting a school age child is a million times harder than parenting a baby/toddler. I was naive to think it would get any easier.

    Butting in....

If it makes you feel any better - I think the about statement is super typical - I've always had the same issue with Sophi.  She saves it all for me but masquerades as a polite and respectful child with everyone else.....

I think I would also find comfort in the therapist telling you her behavior is age appropriate.

I know your situation is different and parenting is hard period but I'm telling you, there is something about those first born girls!  She's never gonna let you have it easy :)

  • I'm glad the therapist isn't terribly concerned, not that that helps you very much.  Bleah.

I'm not looking forward to school-age children.  Just seeing what Justin learns from other kids in preschool scares the daylights out of me.  I do not want to deal with peer pressure, homework, grades, etc.  And Justin telling me, "Mommy I need money for my smoke" does not do wonders for my confidence.

But I'm still glad A seems to be as normal as possible, at least according to the professional.

Trust me when I say that I LOVE MY MOM MORE THAN WORDS, but this is SO true! I still "show her my ugly" more than anyone else. I think about this a lot (especially since becoming a mom, myself), and the best I can come up with is I trust her more than anyone else. I trust that she'll still love me even when I do continue to show her my ugly. I'm not sure that makes her feel any better about being my life-long punching bag, but it's the truth.
