Birth Story & PIP: Mila Scarlett is here!!

I really thought that i would be pregnant forever or at least well into March! My due date was February 27th but our little Mila had other plans. At my dr's appointment on Wednesday the 23rd my dr stripped my membranes and gave me hope. I had some mild cramping for the next two days and I lost my mucus plug..again. However, i knew not to get too excited because I had originally lost my mucus plug at 37 weeks!

Just when I was about to conclude that stripping my membranes didn't work i started having contractions friday around midnight. I had gone to bed early telling my husband and our house guest that I wasn't feeling that good. By the time my husband went to bed around midnight i started to feel more intense cramping, but really felt just like the bad menstrual cramps i used to get in high school! I began timing the contractions just before 1am and noticed they were about 6-8 mins apart. Over the next few hrs they got closer together and more intense, but strangely enough I still wasn't sure if I was really in labor! I expected to feel my abdomen get tight like the BH's i felt earlier in the pregnancy. I woke my husband around 3:30am with contractions between 2-4 mins apart and basically said "its time!". Called the hospital, called my dr, took a shower and made sure everything at home was in order and we had everything we needed before we left for the hospital. Just before we left, my water broke!

5:45 am: admitted to hospital, IV fluids, and checked my rn's - dilated 4 cm, head at -1 station.

~7:00am: dilated 6 cm and debating when to get epidural..

8:30am: dilated 8 cm got epidural! contractions were beginning to make me want to cry! Epidural only worked on half of my body at first so had to get another dose pushed thru! Spent the next couple hrs rotating sides until Epi worked on both sides.

10:30am: I swore i could feel her head and the urge to push.. RN checked me and i was fully dilated!!

11:00am: began pushing with RN, contractions were further spaced apart now (dunno if that's normal) so for the next hr of pushing i really didn't get to push much.

12:00pm: Dr arrives.. begin pushing "for reals"... i saw her head! lots of hair!

12:32pm: Arrival of Mila Scarlett at 6lbs 3 oz. 18 inches long. 1 day  before her due date!!
