Parenting after 35

The Little Gym

Anyone go there?

I think Jen did with Jace.... (Jen, I REALLY miss you!!!!!!)

Aaron and I are taking the free introductory class on Sunday. It will be for "Beasts" (19 mo - 2.5 years).  Since A will turn 19 months the week after (Class is on the 6th, 19 months on the 14th) the woman I spoke to suggested it was the better class for him.

I hope he likes it. He is almost never around other kids and I want him to socialize. Plus I'd like to meet other "local" moms (the class is 2 towns away/15 minute drive).

Re: The Little Gym

  • I see ads for the them all the time and wish I could take DD#1 there, but it is just too far away. We use the Y and go to a tumbling class and she loves it.

  • LC, we went to the Y last Fall and the one class was too advanced for him then (he wasn't walking) and is only available at times inconvenient for us.

  • Finn loved the Little Gym. We were in the sibling class. He didn't listen very well but he loved to climb and do the activites. We loved it. Noah went to Gymboree when he was little but I liked The Little Gym much better. We would still be going if we weren't in such a bad spot right now.

    We went to the Halloween party there too. It was great fun.

  • Robyn - Does your library system have a storytime or some other meetings? I took Maddie to our Book Babies for the first time and there were sooo many people. I bet there were 25 - 30 babies and thier moms and a few dads. They split it for little ones and preschoolers so there is no expectation that the babies sit still.

  • Yeah, they do... I only heard of it after I moved and they're booked--have no spots. I am so upset over that. I mean no spots for months? WTF? I was going to try that one morning before work. I'm still going to call and see if I can get A squeezed in since the library is literally down the street from where I live and I also work in the same town. I can easily take an hour to go.

    But I'm still looking forward to this class at Little Gym. I think Aaron will love the activity and it's a great time (Sunday morning at 8:45 am).

  • :::::WAVING WILDLY!:::::::

    Hello dear friend! Sorry I've been so MIA- working a zillion hours a week. I only caught this thread because John gave me a few minutes to eat dinner in front of my computer while he watched Jace lol. Good times.

    Anyway, Jace didn't like it at all. However, if he were to take a class now, I think he would. We were in the "bugs" class which started at 4 months. It was just kind of dorky and boring for us both. I do hope to eventually try again but that will have to be when I have time on my hands which I don't see happening for a while.

    I hope Aaron likes the class! Kiss that smiley baby for me!

  • Hello, lurker here.  My DD just finished a semister at the Little Gym (Birdies age group) and she/we loved it!  I would have signed her up again for the spring semester if the time of the class still worked for us.  Unfortunately she has converted to just one nap/day and the only w/e class is right at her nap time. The class was great tho, and I really feel that it helped to build her strength/confidence.  They even do a showcase day at the end of the semester where you can bring family and they show off what they learned.  And there is a little medal ceremony on the last day.  It's cute!

  • Thanks for the review, smignone74!  And welcome!!!!
