Philadelphia Babies

how much do you pay for your nanny?

I am starting to interview nannies for the fall. It will be for a 2 and a half year old and a 3 month old. My two year old will be at school three mornings a week. It will be about 45 hours a week. I have been quoted so many different numbers so I wanted to get an idea of what the norm is??

  • Bumping this one as I am interested too.

  • I am guessing it varies depending on experience/age, how many kids, expectations (is there also light housework involved, driving, etc) and the like.  I know that in DC for 2 kids you are paying upwards of $15 and hour and taxes.  So I am guessing Philly is less.  My mom is going to be our nanny 2 days a week when we move this summer and we are going to pay her $10 an hour (which is not a lot, but it is what we can afford) plus taxes.

I would try and look into a nanny share.  It is a little more affordable way to have a nanny.  Good luck!

  • We were guesstimating about $2500 a month.

  • That is about what we were thinking too 2500-3000.  For one child.
  • We had one child and paid $600 per week + vacation and sick days.  We did not pay medical.  We gave small raises each year.  If we had more than one child, we would have paid more, but I have been fortunate to SAH since DS2 arrived.
Fortunate to be a SAHM to my 3 musketeers (5/2006, 5/2010 & 12/2011). Soy & dairy free for the 3rd and final time. Lilypie Kids Birthday tickers Lilypie Second Birthday tickers Lilypie First Birthday tickers imageimage
