Our scan is tomorrow (finally!), and while I know the point of the scan is to make sure the baby is healthy, We will be really dissapointed if we can't find out, especially DH. He has planned this whole big reveal at dinner with our families... We're doing the thing where you have the bakery dye the cake pink or blue, then everyone finds out together (including us) when we cut into the cake, and DH is so excited about the idea.
So does anyone have any tips/tricks/old-wives-tales to get baby to cooperate? Words of wisdom/comfort? I'm open to just about anything!
PS- I'm a little nervous because it seems like baby is a night owl, like mommy, and I only feel him/her kick in the afternoons and evenings. Our appointment is at 8:30 AM...

We are doing the same thing with the cake. Only it is doubling as my bday gift!
Before our scan I drank a glass of OJ. Baby didnt appear to be moving around like crazy but the tech was also taking LOTS of pictures so the frame was frozen for most of the scan. Luckily, baby was laying perfectly, Facing the camera. Head down, feet up.. What a good baby!
Good luck Tomorrow. Its such a great experience.
I did some OJ and skittles for DS. I overdid that. He was moving too much but the doc still got all of the measurements he needed. This time I will just do the OJ. Mine is usually awake in the afternoons now. My appt is 2:30.
I like the cake idea but DH will make phone calls form the lobby this time too I'm sure. He gets so excited.
BFP #3 via cancelled IUI ~ C (2lb 3oz; HELLP) 5/16/11
BFP #4 via the natural (free!) way ~ E (8lb 11oz) 9/13/12
I probably would be the one making phone calls, lol, which is why even we won't know. We're having the tech write boy or girl and put it in an envelope, which DH is taking straight to the bakery.
I just had mine this morning. I drank a little OJ beforehand but I probably should have had some more (it wasn't even a full 8 oz. glass). Baby was pretty chill and all balled up but the u/s tech was definitely able to get a good look and see our little boy! She did have to mash the wand (transducer? is that what they call it?) around on my belly a few times to get him to stretch out so she could get the measurements, but she was able to get all that she needed.
Good luck!!
