Now, I would pick zoo. But with a 5 month old, I would pick Aquarium. The animals were too far away and didn't move enough for C to notice or care about until he was about 1 1/2. He loved the Aquarium though because I could hold him up to the glass. He especially loved the jellyfish room.
Zoo! I'm not a big fan of the aquarium, though. I feel like there's not nearly enough to see/do there to keep my kid's attention, plus there are stroller restrictions.
I guess I'm in the minority here but Aquarium hands down!
I think our Zoo sucks. I know... I'm spoiled from living in Chicago and Columbus whose cities had zoos far superior to Cinci's... I do admit they have made great strides..but overall the attractions stink and they are annoying to navigate.
But here's the thing especially for a baby Charlies age. The animals are most usually sleeping at the zoo. There's nothing for her to see... They are far away and hard to point out to a baby. Now the walk around the zoo for YOU is great... it's a good workout. But it's a PITA to go to Clifton (IMO) park, etc. Just a big day.
The aquarium is easy access. And the fish move... SO much more interesting for a baby to look at. And if you breeze through the aquarium in 30 min... big deal. It's easy to leave... though we love to have lunch outside and look at the boats and go to Barnes and Noble.
I think the zoo is better for ages 3+. But again, JMO.

You know, I was totally gonna say zoo until I read the last poster's comment and now I think my vote goes to aquarium given your daughter's age. It's a bit cheaper, you can park for free at the Levee Mon-Thurs 11am-2pm and it's a quick day trip when you have to worry about naps and moodiness.
