Another double ear infection

This is Evan's 3rd double ear infection in 5 weeks. And last week he had pinkeye. I hope this round of antibiotics does the trick. The doctor said he is watching the trend but isn't ready to talk about tubes yet. I really hope we don't get to that stage.

Anyone else have a kiddo with recurring ear infections that didn't need tubes?

Re: Another double ear infection

  • Oh no! Sounds like you are probably dealing with the same infection that isn't clearing up.

We had continous ear infections and after 2-3 rounds of the Rocephin shots (shots in the thigh every other day), we decided on tubes.

DS still gets ear infections with the tubes but they are to treat. Although this last infection needed oral antibiotics, usually the ear drops clear the infection on their own.

    Hope Evan feels better soon!

  • Poor baby!

I know this isn't what you asked, but DD had ear infections constantly as a baby and we put tubes in when she was 8 months old.  The ENT wanted to wait until she was a year old, but she kept getting them and was underweight and not eating much because the antibiotics were upsetting her tummy.  I was nervous about getting them but she was SO much better after did that I'm so glad we did it.  The day of the procedure she slept after recovery and hours later it was like nothing even happened.

I just hated giving her so much medication all of the time so it was a great solution for us.

I hope this round clears it up for him and they stop reoccuring.  Feel better Evan!

  • DD has ear infections all the time. Last time we used natural ear drops that a friend recommended

They have tea tree oil and garlic oil that are natural disinfectants. They also have other natural oils for soothing.

Our pediatrician recommended giving BioGaia probiotics to help balance her intestinal flora when we are giving her antibiotics. This has really helped to keep candida infections away, because antibiotics destroy the bacteria that keep fungi from growing
