Pediatrician Near Medical Center of Plano?

I am delivering at MCP at 15th/Coit... looking for a pediatrician that has rights at MCP and who is caring and attentive.  Ideally would like someone who has good office hours, including weekend hours OR at least a phone option for weekends.  We also live near the hospital, so one close in proximity would be convenient.

Thank you for your help!

  • Unfortunately, I don't have a good pediatrician to recommend.  However, I am looking for an OB in that area.  Do you have any recommendations? Thanks!!

  • Finding a Pedi that meets all of your criteria will be difficult.  We had a hard time finding one.  We love ours.  They do not have weekend hours, aren't opened late.  They do have a nurse line after hours/weekends.  They do have privileges at MCP.  They have been known to call you personally regarding your newborn, I know they did after my youngest was born and he was severely jaundiced.  They're worth a good look.

Dr. Shiresha Mutyala and Dr. Rhonda Merchant - 972-491-7900

And for the lady looking for an OB/Gyn.  Dr Charles Downey is fantastic!  He is off George Bush and Renner.  Has privileges at MCP, Baylor and RMC.  I've been seeing him for the last 5 years, he's delivered two of my babies.  One to stay away from is Dr. Daryl Greebon.  (He's right next to MCP.)  He has his own agenda when it comes to your baby, not really invested in his patients, etc.  I had a terrible experience with him...he delivered my first son.

Oh, and if you ever need a Dr hour hours or on the weekends, this place is GREAT!  They do take insurance and so you only pay you copay.  They have everything you need there, x ray machine, they can test blood, they do vaccines...a lot of people actually use them as their PCP because of their evening and weekend hours.    It's a lot better then going to the ER.  However if they feel you need to go to the Hospital they will tell you.  When my baby was 12 days old I took him there.  After seeing him they told me to run to the ER.  I wasn't charged by them.  Anyway, just thought I'd throw this out there for you too.

  • I go to Plano Women's Healthcare.  There are 6 female doctor's there.  I see Dr. Licker, whom I like.  I have multiple coworkers and friends who see the other doctors and are all happy with them.  I would definitely recommend the office!

**This office is actually inside the MCP hospital.

  • Thanks for your help ladies!!  Have a great Valentines day!

I go to Dr. Ivan Rovner (North Texas OBGYN) who is in that area. I would absolutely recommend him!

  • I also go to Plano Women's Healthcare at Medical Center of Plano. I see Dr. Arlene Jacobs and I LOVE her!! She is an amazing doctor and I can't say enough good things about her and her nurse.
