i'm not sure if you all remember me debating quitting our pedi after some issues with their office management (turning H away from shots when taken by my mom because we owed them a bill... which they acknowledge they had not mailed to us yet) and some differences in opinion (telling me that bf'ing after 3 months was a 'waste of time' and that I was crazy for having not thrown her bottle away by month 9).
well, I finally did it.
yesterday we got a "delinquent billing" letter from them. With a bunch of sections they had busted out a highlighter on. They wanted to address our "agregious delinquency" and offer a payment plan.
Well the bill was for $42 and the letter was dated 2/21. they state in the letter they are discussing a bill they sent us on 2/15 for the first time. Yep. after 6 days I get the highlighter pen. I was pissed.
So, today I called and paid them their $42 bucks and asked for a copy of H's records to be forwarded to the new practice I selected (one doctor, one NP, limits patient number and assures me we are on the same page on all my major desires and opinions). The office person at the old pedi said "well, that is ridiculous, you obviously have too high of an expectation of service. We arent a service business we are a doctor's office".
Yeps, thanks. last time I checked... i have the right to expect more than 6 days before you get nasty with me, especially when I have always paid my bills BEFORE I even get on in the mail... arg. Fingers crossed the next one works out better.

Ah but she's wrong.... doctors' offices ARE service oriented businesses at the heart of it all. When I was in day practice, and owned by a corporation, they even sent in "secret shoppers"... to a veterinary hospital. So, if the veterinarian is considered a service provider, the pediatrician is not less of a service provider. From the minute you walk into the office, they should be doing all that they can to keep you and your daughter as a patient.
I think the billing highlighter was uncalled for and rude. I'm glad you switched, and hope the new one works out much better for Harper and baby#2.
