LO already a Side Sleeper?

DD is 11 days old and DH and noticed pretty much from day one she rolls to her side and will not sleep any other way.

I know sleeping on her back is best to prevent SIDS but what can I do if she keeps rolling to her side? I know sleep positioners are not safe... What are my options? Ideas?

Re: LO already a Side Sleeper?

  • Ellie does this too and it makes me feel a little better since she spits up alot. I wouldn't worry yourself about it. Using blankets and sleep positioners to prevent it would make me more nervous than her sleeping on her side.

  • My LO sleeps on his side too. I am not too worried about it as long as he isn't rolling to his front. In fact, I almost like it better because he likes to spit up a lot in his sleep so he's not choking.

  • when olive was in the NICU the nurses put her on her side all of the time to sleep (on the right) because it helps with digestion and if she were to spit-up she wouldn't aspirate it...so we put her on her side every night to sleep

  • Your LO is super cute! My LO is a side sleeper too and I'm not worried about it because she can't choke on her spit up that way.

  • We bed share and from day one dd has always rolled from her back to her side to face me when she sleeps. doesn't bother me since if she spits up she won't choke.
