We have tried Bananas, apples, melon, pineapple, grapes, blueberries, strawberries, pretty much anything that you can find in frozen form. DD loved this when she was teething.
I only used a mesh feeder for a couple weeks while LO was getting the hang of picking up small things like puffs. It was so gross to clean, that I got rid of it as soon as I could.
I put basically anything I could in it. Apples, bananas, avacados, sweet potatoes, frozen peas, pears,
I put frozen purees in them. DD is not a big solids eater, but she does love them frozen.
I've never thought about putting a frozen puree in there! I'll have to give that a try. DD loves grapes and I also use frozen apple chunks. Now that she has a couple teeth that popped through it really seems to soothe her.

Basically anything soft went into the feeder.

By the way, the mesh feeder makes a great teething tool. Put ice or frozen whatever in it to help sooth your LOs gums.
DS#1 still uses it with ice only since his molars are coming in. It really helps.
