STRETCH MARKS

looking for suggestions on stretch mark creams?  I have heard of mederma, mustela, and several others and am looking for a great reccomendation and also where to buy, so that I can get a good price.  Any thoughts are much appreciated.

Re: STRETCH MARKS

  • I was having a hard time finding one that didn't smell weird and give me a headache! DH found one for me, Burt's Bee's Mama Bee...has no smell at all and very natural. You can buy their products a lot of places but found mine at Target. Around $13 i think. I've been using it daily since Christmas and have barely put a dent in it!

BUT this is my first, so I don't know how well it will work for the whole pregnancy! Fingers crossed, I don't want stretch marks!!

  • I've been using Mustela. No stretch marks yet. But I've seen my mother so I'm guessing they're on the way.

You can buy it on amazon, but I've just picked it up from Nordstrom since it didn't qualify for free shipping with amazon prime.

No matter what you use if your ment to get stretch marks you are going to get them.  I didn't notice I had any until after my first was born and my belly went down.

I use Burts Bees Mama brand and Aveeno Moisturizing Oil Cream.

  • I have been using Mustela. My SIL gave it to me. I really like it. It does have a smell, but not one that I mind. It feels super silky. No stretch marks so far. Fingers crossed.

  • I use bio oil. I still have no stretch marks so far so good! i have old ones from just gaining weight to fast years ago and its even fading those old ones. so i would definetly say bio oil! My sister swears by pure vitamin e oil she has barely any stretch marks but both are equally expensive , my pharmsist also says bio oil though

  • I've read that stretch marks are hereditary so if your mom/grandma got them... you can use all the cream in the world but you'll probably get them too. I have heard that Bio-Oil is a good one though! I'm using the Burt's Bees Mama Oil and it's nice but have no idea if it does anymore than just moisturize.

  • I have no advice. I had found a fantastic body butter that is cocoa and shea butter (from Melt, I think the website is meltproducts.com) but they're scented. I can't use anything scented on my belly at all this pregnancy, or it makes the itching worse. I'd try the Burts Bees one.
  • I've been using The Equate brand Cocoa Butter fro the day I found out I was pregnant. It doesn't matter how much you spend, if you are prone to stretch marks, then you are going to get them. You might be able to help their appearance, but that is it.

  • I've been using Egyptian Magic for years. It was created specifically for the maker's daughter when she was pregnant to avoid stretch marks, and so far, I have none. It's entirely natural and sold at health food stores or online.

And I have also read that stretch marks are hereditary, but my mother and grandmothers all had them and I don't, so that theory went right out the window! :)

I hate to say this, but don't assume you won't get them. I didn't have any, and my mom does, and she told me hers didn't show until around 33 weeks. Sure enough, I noticed them starting to pop up a few days ago.

    It really is genetic.
