Babies: 6 - 9 Months

How many solid meals does your 7-8 month old eat at daycare?

I guess I'm experiencing working mom guilt.  In order for my LO to get her 2nd solid meal in, she'll need to eat at DC, probably around 4:30 (early dinner meal).  I EBF and want to nurse immediately when I get home (6:45pm) rather than give her a solid meal.  I get home so late, it sucks.

Any way - how many meals does your LO get at daycare?  Does anyone's LO eat dinner there?  Also, when can you stop waiting an hour or so after nursing to give solids?  Anyone do it 15-30 minutes after a nursing session yet?

  • DS is FF so I can't comment on the nursing situation, but I can say that DS gets breakfast, a morning snack, lunch, and an afternoon snack at daycare. His last bottle at daycare is around 3:30 and then he gets another bottle at home at 6:30ish before bed. Since he eats so much at daycare I don't feed him solids at home during the week. HTH!

  • My LO gets a bottle in the morning before going to daycare, gets three bottles throughout the day along with two solid meals.  Recently we started giving him another solid meal when we eat dinner.  He also has a bedtime bottle.  I exclusively pump, so I can't help with the nursing question, sorry.
  • Zero.  I'm like you.  I'm not ready for them to do it yet.  They get a bottle at 6:30 as soon as they get up and fruit at 7:30 right before we leave.  They do 3 bottles at daycare, veggies at 6:00 after we get home from our run, and bottles at 7:30 right before bed.  I know I'll have to add lunch eventually, but I love being the only one (along with DH) who feeds them.

  • Our daycare provider will only feed DS once around noon.  Right now he is only getting two meals a day because I don't have time to feed him soilds in the morning before work.  Yes, I have mommy guilt about this.
  • Right now zero. We tried it before for a few days (rice cereals) and she didn't want them. I also EBF; and so far I only feed DD solid at dinner. However, this solid doesn't replace her nursing session. She gets 3 bottles of 3 oz at day care, and I nurse her around 4-4:15 when I get home. Then she'll have some sort of veggie pureed with us for "dinner". And then she'll nurse again before bed (around 6:15PM). I am going to start sending some solid to day care maybe next week or so.
