I feel like I just can't have a normal appointment where everything checks out okay!
Last week I was in for my regular appointment, and my blood pressure was up. So, my midwife had me come back this week to check it. Well, it was even higher yet! They put baby on a monitor asap to do a NST, and that checked out just fine which is great news! But, I'm still concerned.
They also sent me right over to the hospital for labs to check for pre-e. I am currently doing a 24 hr. urine test, hopefully that turns out to be just fine too. It didn't help that the lady who did my labs at the hospital was a complete ***! She was so nasty and rude with me, I was almost in tears. She was lucky that she got done so quickly because I wasn't going to stay quiet much longer. Nothing helps your blood pressure like a nasty woman at the hospital!
Then I had to get DD from the babysitters and she was in a terrible mood! I just feel like I can't win today. At least I ended my day with a prenatal massage, that was about the only positive thing. That and DD was in a much better mood once we got home.
Is anyone else in the same boat? Has anyone needed to do the panel of tests for pre-e and it turn out to be nothing? Or am I doomed?
Re: Not a good appointment today
Not in the same boat, but I can't stand nurses or receptionists who give you a hard time for everything. I understand they have long days and stressful jobs but no need to take it out on your patients!!!!
Tomorrow is almost here, hopefully it will be a better day for you!
DD due April 2, 2014
I'm sorry this was such a bad day! The good news is that LO is okay, and tomorrow DD can wake up on the other side of the bed.
As for your pre-e, Good Luck!! Take care of yourself and LO right now. Sending good thoughts.

Some quick moral support - with last pregnancy, I did 2 24 hour urine tests towards the end, one as an outpatient and one as an inpatient, both due to suspected pre-e due to high BP. They both came back fine. I hope the same thing happens for you! Hang in there.
Thank you! That is wonderful to hear. I just keep thinking that it has to be bad, but this gives me hope!
Did they do anything about your high blood pressure, like NSTs or recommend medication, diet change?
*peeking in from 3rd tri"
Just wanted to let you know that I am going through the same thing. I go for NST's twice a week. I have had extensive labs done twice and everything comes back completely normal. No protein in my urine and no pre-e symptoms to speak of other than high BP. This has been going on since week 36. There really is no explanation for the high BP other than I am at the end of my pregnancy. I was just told at my appt. today that if he doesn't come naturally within the next week I will be induced next wednesday because my MW doesn't want me going over 41 weeks.
Just wanted to encourage you...everything is probably fine. My MW said that some women get high BP near the end. Just stay hydrated and keep your feet elevated whenever you can. The prenatal massage probably helped a lot. GL!
I wish my bp wasn't high at all, but if it is, I hope it turns out to be something like you said, just end of pregnancy! I'm glad to know at least it's possible to just have higher blood pressure and not be pre-e!
My BP was a little high for the last 2 appts.- something like 139/64 (or 134/69? something like that) at one and 137/82 at the other. My MW had me do a 24 urine collection, and everything turned out just fine. At my appt. today, actually, my BP was back in the 120/80 range.
I had no other signed of pre-e and still don't. MW said that we'll just use the 24 hour test as a base line now if my BP were to go back up or if I were to develop any other pre-e symptoms.
Try not to worry too much!
For me, yes. But mine was very high for many weeks/months, so don't let me worry you. They put me on labetalol which helped...I was running in the 150s/low90s and then with the labetalol my pressures came down to the 130s/high70s,low80s. I also had twice weekly NSTs starting at 32 weeks. It was a pain, but also a reassurance that all was going well.
My OB's been watching my pressures again this time and so far they are borderline high (in the 140s/80s). I haven't been medicated yet, but will start the NSTs at that same 32 week mark as a precaution. I'm also spilling a little bit of protein, but apparently not enough to concern her yet. She said I'll likely be induced at 39 weeks if baby isn't here because she doesn't like to have people with high BP go further than medically necessary due to risks of cord deterioration.
Do you expect to hear this afternoon if the 24 hour urine is OK, or tomorrow?
