My test was at 2pm, so I ate breakfast and lunch beforehand, and I was fine. For breakfast I had eggs. For lunch I had soup and salad from panera. I ate my baguette after the test to cut back on the carbs. The only instructions I was given was no sweets the day of the test. Good luck.
My husband made me a nice big egg white omelet with bacon, cheese, mushrooms, and onions. I'm glad I ate quite a bit because the drink started making me dizzy from all the sugar. I passed with a 120.
My test was at 3. I was told to eat normal, but my midwife said to try to eat less carbs. I had eggs for breakfast, salad and fruit for lunch. But by 1:30 I couldn't stand it and stuffed 4 oreos down I passed though!
I have heard people say that there are different kinds of tests though and this is why people receive different instructions.
I took my test at 3:30 in the afternoon. That day, I had a bowl of fruit loops for breakfast, and an apple for a mid-morning snack. For lunch I had a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich, and a handful of Doritos. I passed on the afternoon snack until after they drew my blood. Then I indulged in my daily Cadbury Egg as it is now "Easter Season." Cadbury Eggs are a daily treat during Easter Season I passed but I was right on the edge!

For DS I had eggs and toast and passed the test. With this pregnancy, I ate normal all day (including a cocoa) and then I ate a banana and crackers a few minutes before the test and failed with a 145. I was so mad that I didn't eat protein right before.
I passed the 3 hour, so I think I threw my results off with the banana and crackers.
I didn't have any directions. I had my usual breakfast of oatmeal with raisins, walnuts, brown sugar, and milk. I passed when I took the test (started the test an hour after eating).
Honestly, I have my doubts that what you eat affects it much unless you're eating it as you walk in the door to the lab.
I wasn't told to eat any differently than usual, and I ate a few mini bacon and cream cheese croissants that my husband made before I went to the office. I failed by a few points. If I could do it again, I'd fast the morning of to keep from having to take the 3 hour test (my test was at 7:15 A.M.).

ok, this makes sense to me now. I was told to eat NOTHING after midnight the night before and even watch my carbs the day before. I leave in half an hour for the test and am starving!
