As with everything, this is a personal choice... BUT
I wouldn't worry too much about gendering the diaper bag to the baby. The diaper bag is YOUR bag. YOU will be the one carrying it around just about everywhere you go. I think it's more important to concentrate on your own style when choosing this item (and functionality, of course).
There are lots of stylish, inexpensive diaper bags out there that don't look like diaper bags at all. Or just get a purse/bag that is big enough to hold all the baby goodies! Who says it has to be created specifically for diapers to hold them?
Have fun with it and pick a bag that you will feel great about carrying around!
I found this one that I fell in love with by OiOi. Its blue damask with a light leather trim. I try to find bags that I can use after I'm done using it as a diaper bag and this one is it! I'm now just waiting for someone to post it on ebay or for amazon to have a good deal because I can't fathom paying over $200 for a diaper bag with this being the last baby!

I love love love it! I recommended it to a friend when she had her girl, and she also loves it. If I have a girl, I might go splurge and buy a new one, in the pink and brown
