so those of you going to meet with different pediatricians... what sorts of things would you ask them or look for? Thanks ladies!
Also, if you had to chose, would you go with a dr./office that you already know and is highly recommended but about 30 min from your house, or with someone you know nothing about but is closer to home (15 minutes)? Just trying to see what others would do. Thanks!

Here is a site I found with pretty good questions.

I am starting to figure out who I am going to use. My old family doctor is over an hour away, but I have always been comforatable with him and his staff. I am going to try to find a doctor near my house first (there is a medical facility with a couple practices 5 minutes away) and if I cant find a doctor I like, I will take her to the one I am comfortable with. My husband and I are both more comfortable having a doctor that is close by, but if we cant find anyone suitable, we will drive the extra distance.
The really important things with my first son were office hours, reaching a doctor after office hours, and flexibility of vaccines.
I wanted to be able to have a wide variety of office hours, even though I am a SAHM, the more hours available, the higher likelihood of being seen that day if I need it.
The other thing was I needed to be able to speak to a DOCTOR after hours. My pedi office has an answering service, and you call in and leave your name and info, and they call you back usually within 10 minutes. A lot of pedi offices have the answering service or the ER, those are the only options. My pedi can tell me if I need to head to the ER or wait until the morning and come to them.
My son has a high reaction to vaccines. He gets a high fever if he gets a fever, swelling, and has gotten reactive arthritis. this is EVERY time. So my pedi offers a nurse appointment for delaying vaccines. I can bring him in for his shot, and not have to pay a separate co-pay. My son does not get more than 2 shots at one time, yet he is never more than 6 months behind on his schedule. This is actually the farthest behind he's even been because he is getting is 18 month Hib A at 2 years instead, since he had the reactive arthritis from that. Before this, he was never more than a month behind. I also get his flu shot separate from anything else, I'm headed back in next week for his second flu shot and it won't cost me a dime.
