Really MIL ?!? (VENT - longish)

On Tuesdays DD goes to preschool, and my FIL picks her up afterwards & watches her until I get off work. Pretty much he puts her down for her nap, and she usually sleeps until I get there. Sometimes I even have to wake her up, if she's fought going to sleep at all.

MIL just calls & says that she had to take her mom to the doctor, and wanted her to see DD, so she picked up DD at 2:30pm, took her to the doctor appt, then they ate at Golden Corral around 3:45pm, now they're at Meijer, and where can I meet them to get DD.

Really? So basically DD got no nap, since they don't even get back from preschool till 2:15pm, and ate a dinner-ish snack an hour ago.

Not that that doesn't completely mess up our evening routine or anything, and leave me with a cranky toddler for the few hours I get with her after work.

And not that I didn't already have our evening planned out, and now I have to drive completely out of my way to meet you to pick her up, which means I either have to completely change my plans, or push back the times, which would mess up her evening routine.

Thanks MIL. No, really. Thanks a ton.

You never ask for her, almost always refuse to watch her when we ask (I stopped asking, but DH still sneaks one in now & then - doesn't really matter, she always refuses), then you hi-jack her when it's convenient for you with no regard at all for DD's routine and without asking me or DH if it were okay.

And let's not forget that DD is just now getting over the flu she's had for over a week (as in yesterday was her first full day back to normal), so I'm sure there's absolutely no chance that her body might still need the rest. And, you know, normally timed, healthy meals instead of the GC crap you gave her (onion rings, french fries, a biscuit - which is just stupid because DD loves salad).

Ugh.

At least I like my FIL, right? He messes up sometimes, but he at least tries.

Grr.

  • And in case anyone catches it - yes, I'm glad DD got to see her great-grandmother.

But since MIL sets her own work schedule, and GGM doesn't work and sits home alone most days, there is absolutely no reason why MIL couldn't plan a different day/time to take her over there.
In fact, I'm trying to figure out how GGM has been running around this long, since she is (according to MIL) in poor health, just got out of the hospital on Sunday, and can barely walk on her own due to advancing arthritis in her knees & hips.

Again - it all comes down to repeatedly doing only what is convenient for her, with little to no regard for anyone else. And not just me, but DH & DD as well.

    Grr.
