quiet or noisy for naps?

DD1 is well, 2... so it is usually loud here. Today she is in preschool and I got DD2 down in her bassinet for what appears to be her first nap, alone, for longer than 30 minutes since about week 1.

Yesterday I got her down in her bassinet for about 45 minutes, and then she woke up peeved off. Of course, DD1 was being loud as usual. She has no trouble going to sleep when its loud, just staying that way I guess.

She is in my room, which is on the same level as we normally play on.

I am all about letting her sleep with noise around, since DD1 is here most of the time, but I am also extremely glad to have her napping on her own right now.

Anyhow, I am wondering if I just got lucky today, or if she really needs quiet for naptime. Her room is upstairs away from everything, so I am going to try to start putting her down in there.

Does your LO like it quiet or do they even care?

Nora likes quiet. As much as I want her to get used to the "sounds of the house," anything clanging or banging will wake her up (if she's in a light sleep at the time).

Ellie sleeps like a rock when she goes down. We have her in the living room when she naps and she sleeps through everything.

DS will sleep on the couch besides me with the tv on and DH talking (he's a LOUD talker), but DS will also sleep soundly in his room where it is quiet. I do notice though at night if he hears DH start talking he will startle very easily. So, during the day he doesn't seem to prefer one of the other but at night he prefers it to be quiet.

We are loud on purpose. I have a 7 and a 4 year old and I have not "sshhhed" or told them to be quiet once because the baby was here or sleeping. He sleeps through anything and he is right in the middle of all of the comotion all day long.
