My family is on my ass and being annoying about registering. I'm not going to until after our anatomy scan, but I want to start thinking about what we need, options, etc.
If you'll let me see it, PM me the link because it's probably a bad idea to post it on here---your name will be on it.

Re: Can I see your registry?
Thanks, ladies!
rvandiver, I saw your registry on BRU, but couldn't find it on PBK.

I had hidden it after Bryce died, but now it is open. Just an FYI, we are registered for two different bedding sets right now, but we are going to pick one and take the other off in a few weeks.
I really liked this site I came across:
https://www.consumerreports.org/cro/babies-kids/news/new-baby-basics-1105/overview/index.htm
Thanks! I bookmarked it.

You can search me on BRU I don't care, since my name is my siggy obviously. State is AZ. Couldn't figure out how to PM you...don't know why that's not working for me anymore. Also got this really helpful info from my friend who had a baby in October, which I used for my registry along with this website:
https://www.lucieslist.com/
The first bit of info is about registering. The second is for when you?re at the hospital.
Nursing:
-Double electric pump, or even a single pump. Start pumping when you get home from the hospital and
it will help increase your milk supply.
-Bobby pillow. I thought it was over rated but when you wake up every hour at night to nurse, that 7lb
baby weighs a lot. And it will help with positioning at the correct angle. Israel would scream after
nursing for a few days and I went to a lc and his position was wrong and he was getting a lot of air. I'd
use it for at least the first month.
-Lots of cotton breast pads. You'll soak through several a day at first and you may want to use the
disposable ones but I'm pretty sure they contributed to my only clog. : (
-Lanolin cream. Apply after every time you nurse for about the first two weeks. It helps prevent cracking
and against clogging.
----When I did get a clog, the doc told me to use the cream after nursing. The natural ingredients
help...to unclog. lol And I didn't nurse that side because it hurt so bad so I pumped it after nursing and
less than 48 hours later, it was gone.
----It really does take about two weeks for nursing to stop hurting. And then, til about 6 weeks to really
get it down pat.
----Don't feel bad if you use formula. Israel wasn't nursing correctly and I wasn't producing enough so we
gave him some from the hospital. I felt bad at first but all that really matters is that your baby's tummy is
full. If your baby is happy, you'll be happy.
----I like sports bras better than nursing bras. If I'm going out with Israel and want to look nice I'll wear
the nursing bra but most of the time I just find sports bras easier and more comfortable
Bottles and Pacifiers:
----Israel likes the bottles that came with my pump. I had bought some avent bottles but gave them
away and just bought more medela ones instead. Every baby is different.
----They say to use a paci in the first four weeks or they won't take one. Israel was a few days old when
my mother in law walked into the bedroom with one in his month! He still takes it, a bottle and nurses
great. I don't know what "they" talk about with babies having nipple confusion.
----We bought a bottle warmer but only used it a few times. I would put the bottle in there and forget
about it and then it would be too hot so I'd have to wait for it to cool. Now, we just put hot water in a
cup and stick the bottle in there. The water cools so the milk never gets too hot.
----Bottle brush. Get one.
Toys:
-Cradle Swing. I like this swing better than regular swings because you can swaddle them and lay them
in it. They don't have to sit. You'll see lots of pics on my fb of Israel in his swing. He loves it.
-Bouncer. His other favorite place to nap and watch movies lol.
-Play mat. Israel is almost three months and is just starting to like his.
-Light weight rattle. We don't have one but I wish we did. Something small enough for him to grab and
shake yet soft enough so when he hits himself it doesn't hurt. : )
Clothes and blankets:
-Blankets. You can never have too many soft cuddly blankets!
-Burp Cloths. I use receiving blankets. They cover all of you, which is where spit up goes, everywhere.
Israel moves a lot so having a small blanket on my shoulder just doesn't work for us.
-Sheets. I have maybe seven and have used two. I do laundry a few days so I end up cycling through just
the two. I also put down a "burp cloth" where his head goes. That way if he spits up, I just change the
little blanket and not the whole sheet. It's quite a pain to change the sheet.
-Swaddler. A cocoon-like blanket with Velcro. He loved it as a newborn but now not so much.
-Changing Pad Cover. We don't even use it anymore. After a few blow outs and "golden arches" we just
use a cloth diaper on it. It's much easier to change frequently.
-Breathable Bumper. I've put my face up to it and I know if he ever gets next to it, he can still breathe. It
protects them from the bars of the crib and gives peace of mind.
-Sleepers. They are great but don't forget some regular clothes for going out.
Diapers:
-I used Huggies Natural Care for the first few weeks and then tried some cheaper ones that we were
given. He blew out of pampers and that's it. We have him in Luvs right now and he's doing great in
them. We haven't had any diaper rashes. Some people try to get more wear out of their diapers and
that's when rashes occur. It's good to change them as soon as you can to prevent diaper rash. lol But
make sure they are finished going poo before changing them lol we've learned.
-I really like Huggies wipes. I used pampers a few times and really don't like the box. The wipe never
stayed pulled so I had to fish it out. And Huggies are thicker and less wet.
-I love my diaper genie.
----We went through about 5 boxes of newborn for the first month. We used number 1's for a month
and a half and now are in 2's.
----When he does have blowouts, I rise it out and spray shout on it before washing. So far, so good.
Bathing:
-Wash-cloths. One of my friends told me she didn't like them so I only had two....I now have 10!
-Water should be a little warmer than you think. At least that's how it if for us.
----Israel laughed for the first time during his bath. He really enjoys his bath time.
----Start with head and work your way down. One time, I noticed he was cold so I poured water on his
body first and he did not like that one bit. Stick your routine also.
Random:
-I'm using baby detergent right now but when it's gone, I'm using the regular stuff and seeing if he's fine.
I'm pretty sure he will be but we'll see.
-Vinegar and water as a safe sanitizer.
